what would you do - Click HERE for Original Thread

im kinda stuck on job decisions right now. heres the scoop. right now i am employed at truck-all-depot, in the warehouse. i am making $8/hr part time (low for warehouse) but all i do is have a wheeler, and unload trucks (small boxes) and place them in the appropriate spot in the warehouse. now last week i was offered a job at canadian tire parts department for $8/hr same hours as truck-all. same driving distance as well. what would you guys do? stay at truck-all or move on? im thinking duties wise. at truck-all you can slack, show up 20 minutes late, etc,etc and get away with it with ease. don't even have to clean anything up. slack.
im thinking different from crappy tire. mostly keeping things tidy, cleaning, etc. CT has profit sharing as well as a more flexible schedule, but i have to work weekends (truck-all isn't open weekends)

i know its hard for you guys to answer due to the fact you arn't in my shoes right now. just asking what you think sounds better.
looking for any advice i can get. my head is going in circles.

In my own opinion, as long as the ppl at the slack job are good to you stay there, cause if you change and have to work with some assholes youll regret it. If its same pay, just stick with what been proven for you, you know the in's and out's of your current job and what will and will not fly so I say just enjoy the good times.

sounds like you're bored.... the change might do u some good? On teh otherhand your current job is easier and more relaxed? Up to you, i guess.... Obviosuly money has nothing to do with it since you'll be making teh same amount.

warehouse is physical, not everything is "small boxes"
this one is lax though

Go apply at Alberta Plywood. You can make twice as much for pushing a broom.

i would NOT work at CT personally....you have to deal with retarded customers who don't know stuff and the CT in my town, wow..the whole staff is stupid. I would probably stay at the Truck All warehouse and work there for awhile and enjoy a slackass job. Besides, you have to work your entire life, why not slack for a couple years at the beginning haha.
p.s. you can always stay at truckall and keep your eye open for betting paying jobs

p.s.s. someone find me a job $14+/hour in calgary or edmonton haha

The CT would probably have a higher quantity of hotties working there ;)

But further - the potential to make more money is there. If you get onto profit sharing (Which means you typically have to accumulate so many hours first) you have the potential to make a LOT more money (I've seen part timers get $2000) in a year. Not all part timers (I assume you're parttime since you're looking for a $8/hour job) get profit sharing...

As well, you have a better chance of moving up in pay - and the potential to become a manager too.

If you can put up with the weekend work - do it. Everyone says "Oh, this job might be harder", but you have to be at either job for 8 hours, so does it really matter what you do?

After reading your post, my advice would be to stay where you are at. It's the same pay, and you said you can slack off and the work is pretty easy. Why go through the hassle of switching jobs if your doing the same thing for the same money.:dunno:

I would go for CT. Yeah the job is harder and more strict but if you are looking for more money and possibly a pay raise it is the way to go. if working at CT dosn't look good and you are not happy with your current job I would try to either look for a new job or look for another place to work.

Stay where you are.
Go to Nait or Grant MacEwan nights.
Have same post 3 years for now substituting $25 per hour for $8 per hour.

Life is good.
