zerro
okay i just finish putting my new rebuild engine in my 88 rx7, and im having some problems with the timing, its my firist time doing do it, i try strating it and i did what the book says about the yellow marks and she won't start, im ganna check my spark plugs again, but i don't think thats it
any ways it a non turbo auto and i want to know what i should do, any help would be great
thanks

now
what you can do is remove the metal cover on both this
engine and your other car which you know the timing is
right on.
turn the motor till the pointer is on the leading mark on both
motors then compare the magnet and pickup locations on
both motors, pulling the cas on the new motor to
make it line up the same if needed.
hope this helps.

okay i did that matt and that didn't work, another thing is that im getting fuel, but im not getting any fire to the coil/igniter or the spark plugs anywhere .

now
no spark at all?
wire from the cas plugged in?
all wire plugs to the computer back in right?
not much else it can be, check the fuses under the hood
the big ones close to the battery.
matt

now
the more i think about it the more i think you didn't connect the
cas it plugs into the car side harness not the one that was on the
motor side to the computer.

okay i get no fire at all, the comp has two wires and then theres three more along with it and those are in their spot. its driving me crazy,

now
check to see if you connected the crank angle sensor (distributor thingy)
matt

zerro
yeah i think pretty much did everything, im ganna change the ecu today and see if its that. everything works its just tht im not getting any fire.

zerro
okay im sick of this i need a shop that i can take my car, anybody know a good place who will do it for cheap. thanks

now
there is no spark it can only be a couple things
fuses
crank angle sensor problem, like not plugged in
try pulling the cas (crank angle sensor) from your running car
and plugging it into the new motor.

Reason i keep saying its the cas is because it was one of the
only things i didn't plug in because where it plugs into is
to the wiring on the car which you couldn't bring down.

matt

zerro
okay i will try that tomm, i checked the fuses so thats good but im ganna that tomm, and let you what happens, thanks

zerro
okay today i used my cas on my other car,and still no fire
so heres what i was doing
i rotate the shaft until the yellow mark is lined up with the pointer
then i take out the crank angle sensor and line the matching marks and i put back into the car.
now from this point i some times get fire for the first half a sec then nothing.

zerro
i need a place to take my fc other then the dealership, or if there is some one out there who think they could fix the problem, read above and thats my problem, i just took out the engine from my 86 and i put the 88 fc and she started right up with no problems, however rebuild engine is now in a 1986 fc which use to work fine, and the same shit is happening, no fire.having my other car sold, i do have some money so im welling to pay someone to check out the problem cause im sick of it.

now
I dont know what you could try next but doug at abbey road automotive should be able to help.

okay well today i found out the problem on my car, or just some parts
the dam air flow meter was basted on my car and i was using with my rebuild engine in both cars so thats why i was not getting any fire.

i also need to kno if the air flow meter from a s5 will work on a s4

It could work but it takes some splicing of the harness and I think thats all... actuallty when I think about it the outlets are different so you would also need the air box also or a cone filter.
