hey everyone ...this is a very waste of thread space haha but anyway to my exciting news...i finally installed a short shifter into my mk2 supra.. ..thanks to the following people...(Bob, a.k.a. celica83_gts)..thanks bob...it fit perfect and shifts perfect..the throws are SOOOO short..now if shift faster than a SMG formula 1 transmission hah:beer:

Supra_devil
nice, i'll have to take it for a spin round the block, compare it to mine. Did you have new bushings on it? or are they used.

night_font
um the whole assembly of it was all 1 piece...the 6 bolts that hold down the shaft and what ever the rest of it is as one piece...unbolt 6 bolts and replace it...had to cut some of the metal that was there so i could get the ratchet to go in properly, so i dont strip the bolts...its all good in the hood

HeavyEarly87T
I will need to try that out. I want to make the short shift for mine soon.

celica83_gts
Alright! I only wish I was there to see your face when you tried it out for the first time!

For payment, you can bring me the thumbs of.....Oh sorry, wrong deal! Bring me two shifters from the wreckers so I can make myself another one, and we'll call it even.

Bob

Ok sounds good, hah. I’m not promising anything with the time period of getting them, but I do know of 1(one) shifter from a 83’ GT-S to be specific hah, is that what your looking for? I still have to wait for another Supra finding to come along, lol.

As to when you meant two shifters, you meant on the part that comes out, like the shaft of it right???

The one on the left???

he means the whole thing, there should be 2 at matts, one in the celica, one in the black 83, i believe the 86's is gone but it way be hiding in the car.

Actually, no. I require two base parts and one stick to build each shifter. I have a couple of spare sticks already from previous shifter projects, all I really need are the aluminum bases. Time is not a big issue, just try not to forget about me.

I'd like to see a mark III shifter to see if this trick would work with it. A little harder to find cores, but not impossible. Shops that install aftermarket shifters might just have some kicking around.

CanuckDave
as soon as I start parting out my car, I can provide an entire W58 mkIII shifter assembly.. and that should be quite soon

I now have two good shifters and only 1 of those aluminum pieces for you, is that good? Well at least I can give it to you next time I see you at the next meet or something.

I have a R154 short shifter sitting at home. You can look at it if you want.

Thanks guys. Lots of interest here! Earl, Is it a stock or aftermarket piece? What I have in mind is seeing if I can apply my hack and whack talents to make a shorty from the original shifter.
Since Dave has one, we'll know soon enough.

I found a way to make a short shifter from one core but it requires a lot more fabrication and some aluminum stock. So, if you can Kris, please find another aluminum base. Again, no hurry.

Bad news for anyone waiting for me to complete a shifter, by the way. Our welder at work, master of the tig torch, is off for a while. His mother is old and not doing well. Since none of you want a shifter that I welded (trust me), there will be a delay until he's back at work.

Supra_devil
the w58 in the mk3 is identical to the one in the mk2, the shifter is identical too i believe, the one that needs looking at is the r154 one that earl has to see if it will work. or so i think.

HeavyEarly87T
I have one somebody made. Track me on the weekend & we can hook up

turbo_dave
When are you going to get around to installing mine? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA just kidding.

Supra_devil
well i got mine from bobby last night, it looks very nice btw. so i'm going to go to the toyta dealership in about 3 hours or so when their service department opens and order a couple new bushings, hopefully i can get them this week. or this day, lol.

hey glenn, bob made you a shifter???also bob...next time i see you i have what you need for the repayment for the one you gave me...you still need it??
