hey,
well im getting my body kit re-glassed from the abuse it got in winter, anyways, my brothers friend is re-glassing it for me but i was wondering if n e of u guys would recommend n e body shops that do a really good job when it comes to painting and matching it to ur car(so it looks from the factory)
also, i gotta new hood for my kit, its also fiberglass, does n e one recommend n e place that is good w/ fiberglass that can install the hood b/c i know the fitment is off.
I went to a company originally called Auto Refinishers and they were shit, not bad work, but jus shit service, for what he charged it was not that good n e ways.
2 places i heard was good was Special FX(on 97st-southside) there the ppl im dealing w/ right now but the guy i guess is short staffed and he cant get me in til July and while im waiting i might as well see if n e thing is out there
another place is, Transform Spoilers, havent talked to n e one there but my buddy w/ a RSX is going there and he says they deal w/ fiberglass and hes getting his kit painted for $1000 (i thought that was kinda expensive)
n e ways lemme know ur thoughts  |

I've heard NO bad reviews on Transform Spoilers from members of this board.
As well, it does cost quite a fit to FIT a body kit. It doesn't cost much to install it, but the goal of a bodykit is to make it blend so well, no one knows it's a kit. |

| if you want it done right the first time i always had to go with joeys.... but hey, i know him so i can't complain. i also have a family friend who could pretty much match any color you could ever imagine, that was his specialty, and he helped open joeys. |

| I got my body kit installed at GarageWorks give them a shout. In terms of matching the paint they did a phenominal job I'm very pleased. You can check out the pics i posted of my car just a heads up to a fellow mitsu owner give them a shout. As for Special FX I wouldn't go there and not cause of personal reasons but i've seen some of their work not a big fan. Go Poly for kits! |

Don't know about kids... last time i checked Jay and Mark were 24+ Mark works at Modern Autobody enough said and jay has alot of experience... I'm a guy that gives an honest opinion and as i said they did a phenomenal job with my kit hence i won the best mitsu award in Calgary DTP. As for karbz or Triple S on't know them but i'm pretty sure they contract it out too... so you can't really say. |

What about getting an entire car re-sprayed?
I want to re-spray mine the same colour to cover up some paint fade and peel. No rust, so doesn't need ground down, just sanded smooth and re painted.
What do you guys think is a resonable price for this and where is a good place to go? |

Minimum $2000 for any shop that does a decent job in base/clear (Less if you do single stage). |

Sure looking forward to it in dtp edmonton.. as for why mentioned it is b/c of what you said of GarageWorks obviously if they do some crap work I wouldn't have had the honor to win.. on a side note i wasn't evening going there to compete or amI planning on competing in the edmonton shows... Lets stay on topic here the guy posted up wanting to know what best shops are you gave him your feedback and I gave i mine enough said... |

as for the quality of any mitsubishi's at the DTP show 3gedmonton didnt enter the show for compitition, DTP edmonton will be very interesting as alot of kids will be competing to win...a plastic paperweight.......
neways back on topic..i would really recommend Garage works and our services in body work...even though i work there..im only there on and off selling performance parts and body kits, i dotn dip my hand in the body work...mark and jay do that they are wat i would like to say...one of the best in edmonton, Mark works at Modern Autobody as well, and at modern tehy do....EXOTIC body work...for edmonton's porsches, bmw's, etc, etc......
now talon4u if ur uncle brought stuff for us to do and yet he owns his own body shop......y bother bringing it by......who is he neways.....we've had LOTS OF good comments bout our shop none were complaints |

| my uncle owns a shop near you. To jog your meemory it was a 2g eclipse with a sunroof problem. As for the eclipse that wins best mitsu every show he ever enters all I know it belongs to bruno in st.albert. By the way thats before any of the recent work that was done.I am just posting my opinion. Bugs the shit out of me though that select people only go on here to brag up there shit and there bumbuddy's shop. I personally dont really care who wins what. Competition is just what it is. |

Ummm.. lets just recap here for a sec... if you're refering to me as bragging i think you've serisouly mistaken I didn't mention anything until you said the quality of work so hence i used that as an example.. now if you took it as a different way then I apologize for it.. And the comment about bumbuddy... I think you should really start adding more words to your vocabulary.. this thread was about helping a guy out in giving personal experience.. I think you deviated from it... GarageWorks wasn't the first place i went to btw I've gone to other shops before i went to them I had them install other things on the car before i made my choice... as for Karbz or Triple S I don't know them.. but I got my CAI installed from Karbz.. the service was ok I had to call them constantly for my CAI which took 3 weeks plus to be in... but I'm the kind of person that is uneasey when someone works on my car and tells me customers are not allowed in the back of the shop to watch?! I think anyone would be a bit nervous... and the lasting impression that i got from GarageWorks was not only their quality of work, but the service they will let you watch the work that they do and their proffessionalism. In the end its still Lancer's choice on which shop to go.. I won't steer anyone in the wrong way. But just keep in mind lancer most shops here contract their paint/ body work out. But i know the guys at garage works do it themselves. |

| Last time I saw that black eclipse I shook my head. You could clearly see tape marks from the paint job all down the door, tonnes of dust, and it was riced out and towed into the show with a blown engine. Hopefully it'll be nicer next time around. Overall its not a bad ride, lots of work put in and I respect that, but if you're gonna be bragging about this car being the best Mitsubishi in Edmonton/Calgary/etc you are horribly mistaken. Now I've gotten in between talon4u and 3gedmonton fighting :drama: |

| Not fighing ... couldn't careless but annoyed that people jump to conclusions or take things the wrong way... again the thread is about to help a fellow member out giving personal feedback positive or negative  |

| As to the original question, thats hard. Most bodyshops now just want to remove and bolt on new parts, prime and paint and out the door and when its in the rear they just pull and fill. I don't know of too many shops that would do fiberglassing regularly as its not one of the more common materials used in most cars. Best bet is to go with a place that works with custom cars as they would be the most familiar with how to work with it. Stereo guys might even be able to help here as they create fiberglass systems, they could re-lay your kit and prep it, and then you could take it to a paintshop. Good luck - I know orangeteg had his car done at Carmasters and it turned out really nice.(the spotlight ride) |

I would agree with 3gEdmonton. I have seen when they were putting the kit on his car and they do really nice work. Have never heard any negative feedback on them either which is a good sign.
Good luck Go_Lancer_Go with your kit. |

i was just finishing up my chat with my boss, david lee *owner of Garage Works* he had mentioned that the eclipse that your uncle did *talon4u*, that sun roof was fucked before it even came to us...all we did was projector lights and cf hood....he didnt even touch that sunroof cause ur uncle was responsible for taht...so dont come blaming us for his mistakes.......and if im correct i think that the owner of the eclipse will never come back to ur uncles shop....since he's always at Garage Works getten stuff.....there problem solved.....
btw this is regarding the good paint, expertise in fiberglass, Jay our installer and body guy, he workes with fiberglass and is doing a full custom encloser for the rear of my AE86 replacing the rear seats soon, he is also doing a Full Carbon fiber/fiberglass rear custom encloser to david lee's 240sx so if u want stop by garage works and talk to mister jay neufeld 12004-149st jsut south of yellowhead thanks for your time...
and i hope this situation with the eclipses are solved and that there is no more bashing of ne shops on this forum....its kinda disrespectfull, u dont know till u try right..... |

it is not a problem doing so, price ranges depending on wat paint u use to how long it will take, re-spraying the car, all u do is buff the paint or even sand down wat is needed and then sprayed, again if u want come by the shop and talk to mister jay neufeld he is our body guy, as for matching the color, if its factory paint it is easy, if not u must supply the paint code lol...u know the whole process........$2000 is a reasonable price for a paint job.... |

Wow, Garage Works does great work!! I wish i could afford for them to upholster my seats!! Like in that silver Protoge!! It takes alot of talent to make an upholstery job look like XR Racing seat covers from Wall Mart!!
And when i look at the signal lights on that silver 3rd gen RX7 that you guys did, it takes me back to my childhood, when i learnd that a square does not fit into an oval:bowdown: |
|

| since im currently Garage works eyes and ears, i will tell you, erics FD had only that minor issue with the lights, he didnt get the JDM lights in time, but rest assure the car looks even better than before, as for the upholstry, i've up the game alittle and we are doing custom re-upholstry, and they dont look like the stupid seat covers from walmart...they are done professionally....... thanks for the thumbs up though! |

| Well considering that it is one of your employees cars you kinda put 2 and 2 together.. If I worked at a shop i think i would take pride in the appearance of my car, because it would reflect upon the company. Plus you guys have been advertising that you do upholstery since day one. |

OK seriously why is this thread turning into a bitchfest?! SR20YO thats an easy assumption to make if it was last year i would agree with you that would be the same assumption I would have made... but lets take your logic for a sec.. (I'm assuming you're a smart guy and know something about cars and shops in general) so anyone working in a garage or shop has to have a "nice" car and has to have it done by the shop? So i guess your logic is that everyone that works at a Honda dealership owns a honda.. same goes for mitsubishi and mazda? Another perfect example I work at IBM so I must own an IBM desktop and notebook? Seriously there is no logic behind what your saying give your head a little shake there maybe bang it a few times against the monitor just for good measure... unless ofcourse you admit that you don't know much and just trying to make a post of some sorts..If you seriosuly have problems with garage works or any shop as a matter of fact why don't you go down there and ask them. Alot of shops don't do their own upholstry or body work.. give it a rest the guy who posted this thread just wanted feedback for "FIBER GLASS BODY WORK" let me repeat that one more time "FIBER GLASS BODY WORK" end of story... |

soo buddy ur saying just cause he's our friend/employee...that we do his work...no he did his own upholstry on his own car...it has nothing to do with garage work...we do upholstry but not through him..... get our point...and yes we do take pride in our cars we do....if u look at 3gedmonton's car for example we took out sweet ass time on the car and look at it...its a sweet ass car!...now im putting 2 and 2 together....i guess ur not..u assume too much kid look only 3 posts.....i bet ur just the same kid who's using talon4u....and look at taht account...8posts....haha believe me kid...no one is gonna listen to some1 who posts 2 times and bashes others shops.....
get off this forum if ur gonna bash ppl...have respect for others cars, im gonna say this to you because if one of the mods say it to you that means worse...and u dont want a mod to tell you this..because they have the power to delete ur damn account...take it easy and stop bashing ppl, have respect for them and their car, or get off this forum....if ur a car enthusiast u should have the respect for all cars....not just ur own.....and dont lie about wat car u have....
have a nice day |
