does anyone with a 5th gen have a problem with their check engine light coming on when driving hard? (hitting v-tec often)
its happened to me twice and no codes even came up when i cleared it.....is it just a warning to be nicer to my car lol? |

| Jeff, I don't have that particular problem but I do have a CEL that won't go away, even after I reset the ECU. It's ECU Code 90... |

| if it was my o2 sensor i woulda thought it would igve me more problems than just the light...my engine still runs and idles fine.....well i guess ill just hope it doesnt happen again |

| happened to me too, when i first tasted vtec , i drove the car a little hard couple of times, then check engine light come on. autotech guys told me it was the vtec solenoid. their explanation is that vtec solenoid wires are not long so if u drive it hard , the engine will move few inches when shifting and it will basically come undone. $10 dollars later they extnded the wires and never happened again. hope that helps. |

| its way to early, still unable to function the threads anyway I have a 5th gen, and my engine light came on , checked it out, it was nothing, alberta honda reset it, came back on 4 days later, i ignored it, and then the car started to surge, took it back, it was the Map sensor, no biggie, got it changed, the next week light came on again, turned out to be nothing wrong, reset it, and then once again the next week the check engine light came on, now its the O2 sensor, so you might wanna get it checked out again |

| could be O2 but it could also be that your driving too early.. make sure the car has had a chance to warm up first before you drive it specially if your going to drive it hard... my type r has the same problem if u drive it hard before letting it warm up. |

| oh!, thats good to kno, i gotta start bein nice to it anyway im way to hard on it, but the sooner this engine goes the sooner i get to drop a jdm type s h22 into it so i donno thanks for the info |

| mine is on its last leg, and i can get the type s with tranny an ecu, for 3600 out of vancouver, and its an extra 23 horses, an i think 12 ft/lbs of torque, so i figure why the hell not |
