Where to tune a standalone around Etown/Calgary? - Click HERE for Original Thread

2fast7
I am looking for a shop to tune the bridgeport 13b in my RX-7 on either a microtech LT-8s or a haltech E6K platform (choice will be made after talking to some shops about what their more comfortable working with). Any sugestions on shops in the edmonton to calgary area would be greatly appreciated, would prefer someone with experience dealing with standalones on rotarys, but this being alberta i might have to settle. Any experiences good or bad shared would help me out alot. Thanks in advance for the input.

I also would like to know who in Alberta can tune a standalone for a rotary engine.

From what I've researched...no one meets the following requirements:
-Certified tuner
-Experience with rotaries
-Experience tuning rotaries

But surely you know a couple people locally that meet at least 2 out of 3 of your criteria, right... ;)

Yeah true but only #2 & 3.
#1 is equally as important though :(

Altezza
Ahh rotarys hard to work on but have great benifits

Kyle.@apex
Well Carl and Conroy are 2 people that have deffinatly put a name down with the rotaries.
Carl works for apex and if your gona tune a standalown system the use of a dyno and a/f chart is realy one of the best ways to do it imo.
Give Carl from apex a call or Conroy from 4kruzin

theres not many people in edmonton that can tune a halteck e6k.
I know of someone in the toronta area thats tune rotaries on it, but that doesnt help, i know silverstone is the only autharized distributer for the edmonton area, i would give them a shot also. But as stated above, try apex, if they know rotaries and haltech good, i would go there, its the only shop i will tune any car at.

Yeah I've given Silverstone some emails before, they essentially told me that rotaries aren't meant to be modified.

Something about trying to tune a customer's RX-7 and going thru multiple engines...
Anyways, it scared me enough that I just stopped the discussion abuptly.

Yeah, there more of the Toyota "specialists" they claim anyway.

If your really interested in getting it tuned properly, and apex cant do it, you need to get in contact with Marco from Magnus Motorsports, he has experiance on tuning rotaries with the haltech and from what i've heard it was good. He's in ontario but he does appoinments in other citys, as you can discuss with him, he came down last summer to tune a haltech on an eclipse (Apex can vouch that one) we never got to actually see the full outcome of the tuning since the walls were washed in the engine before he came down. If you need more info on getting ahold of him, you can let me know, as i would be happy to see another fast car on the road and tuned properly.

Sorry but what does this mean?

And yeah thanks for the tip on Marco, I've heard of him before.
A couple RX-7 owners from BC had Marco out to tune their MicroTechs.

Sounds like the best Canadian option at the moment :)

He flew down to tune an eclipse, but ny the time he got to edmonton, the freshly built engine, was fucked. ie. the rings warent seated, the walls got washed by dumping to much fuel.

oooh ok
gotcha

It sounds a little out of my budget to fly marco here for one tuning session, but if anyone else would be interested in maby getting him here for tuning 2 or 3 cars at once and splitting the cost of his trip maby we could work something out, can get incontact with me at blowe@ualberta.ca or at 7805545693 if your serious about this, Brandon.

DSM
I would be very interested. Marco is a god is the DSM world and I was looking into this as well. When is your car going to be ready to be tuned? Mine is still missing some pieces but it shouldn't be to much longer.

My projects finaly nearing the end, i cant see it taking any more than 4-6 weeks from this point to ready for tuning. Would be quicker, but dont get alot of garrage time this month unfortunately

DSM
Well mine should be done before that if all good pretty smoothly. If you are interested in this get some more info and you can email me at lunchbox@telus.net.
