Ok....time to insurre the car finally....
Im most likely goin to AMA.....and I was wondering..how much do you normally have to pay for the first payment? (ie. Ive heard some of my friends had to put a $600 down payment etc.)

Thanks

bigdawg889
don't go to AMA, the cheapest places to go are Millenium or Meloche, ( if you have a clean record) , AMA will gouge you for way more money.

charlieboi
Well..my dads an instructor there and I can get the membership ns tuff for cheap....
but millenium and meloche, how cheap are they? and how much is it for the first payment?
ps. Im a first time driver

stealth
Usually 2 months, when i first started driving that was like 800 bux or something.

charlieboi
Really? Which insurance company did you go with?
and Registration is like 60 bucks right?

I think that was with garnett dadswell, who is part of alpine insurance now. But my insurance then was like 4400 bucks. Before that i had insurance for one month at 6500 a year.

now its 2 grand.

charlieboi
Hmm...well with all the changes you paid 800$ right?

stealth
no that was 2 years ago that i paid 800.

right now it would be like a little over 300.

Just take what it costs for 1 month, and multiply that by 2.

92_WhItE_H23
AMA isnt bad... im with them i pay 117 a month and im only 20

charlieboi
Oo.....I was hoping to pay off 6 months...so like 1800$?

droppedatbirth
if you go to state farm you only have to pay for the first month

my insurance with my drivers training is $151 a month and i'm 18

bigdawg889
everyone I know has switched to Meloche or Millenuim, but they also are not newer drivers, and everyone has clean records, so being a new driver I don't know if they will be that cheap compared to others.

charlieboi
Well I'm not taking classroom...so I guess I'll be lookin at around $200/month? I havent called for any quotes yet...does anyone have some recomendations that I should call for quotes?

SilverNeonRacer
If you wish to pay for 6mo upfront, then go by a 6mo terms then you renew your insurance every 6mo and pay full amount every 6mo.

Depending in the ins co, some will take a larger deposit so to speak, say your premium is $3000/yr, and you pay $2000 up front, and go for a 1yr term, your payments would be $85.83/mo. instead of $257.50/mo. Unless you can work it with the broker that you pay for 7.75mo up front($2000) then after that you would pay the $257.5/mo for the last 4.25mo.

CanuckDave
I went through MBS insurance brokers, didn't have to pay first or last month up front, they just started at the set day every month, and I'm paying about 187 a month now.

charlieboi
Alright.....stupid AMA wouldnt give me a online quote...What companies would you guys recomend I call up for a quote?

I didnt take drivers training either, I am 17 and pay 167 a month, but my insurance has been doing down everyear.

The most you can be charged i believe without drivers training and a new driver is 2000. So dont worry.

If you really need a place call Garnett Dadswell *ONLY SPEAK TO AGA SARNELLI* the other ladies there are bitches who when aga was on maternity leave cancelled my policy twice and fucked me over.

Tell her you were referred by me Wesam (pronounced We Sam)

charlieboi
Alright thanks Wesam......so lets say my insurance is $2000/year...
thats roughly $166 a month...and I told them I want to pay off 6 months up front..So I'll need $996 and that will be it? any other costs?

charlieboi
O and also...will they ask for a safety inspection?

stealth
Safety inspection will be asked for I believe. Ask them if they can referr you to one of their recommended (Discounted) places, i went to one of them and he charged me 20 bux.

If you want to pay half the year upfront they will let you. You can pay off as much as you want and they wont mind.

Hope that helps man.

charlieboi
yeah it does but iduno if i can do the inspection :dunno:
I have a momo steering wheel with no horn... which is prob the only thing that could fail

SilverNeonRacer
Most places if you do monthy payments charge 3% interest.. not compounded you wanything so $2000×1.03=$2060/12=$171.66/mo

With safeties.. depends on the ins co's some are 13yr yrs old, some are 16yrs old. And some are 5yrs old.

Yes a non-functioning horn will fail you.. Soooo Rig an easy to access momentary on switch and you should be fine.. Get a good switch, something that you could beat on, cause in a panic your not gonna be nice to it.. and they'll consider that.

Hey I didnt get that part...
but yea as for the safey inspection, Ill get it working but my stock chip or w/e it is thats computerized with the cruise control, wouldnt fit under my wheel so I want to go with an ins. company that wont need a inspection.

He meant that some insurance companies require an inspection if your car is 10 years old (Mine i believe), some want for 15 and older, and others want only 5 year old cars and older to be inspected.

charlieboi
Ooh okay...well my car is 92...but if I cant get around to do n inspection would they send someone over?

redbaron303
I went with the cooperators, reasonable rates, great service... oh and they insure ANYTHING!!! right handdrive, left hand drive, moddified, complete engine swaps, stereos, reupholstering, etc... :)

charlieboi
Alright...i'll start calling some places.

droppedatbirth
again at state farm...they never asked for inspection on my car...and its 17 years old now...they also told me before i mentioned my drivers training my rate would be 155 a month

yah me too, first car insured and I was 17 and pay $180/month

charlieboi
aightg so i called most ins companies (which was like 4 heh) and the best i got was garnett dadswell and MBS (167/mo.) and 169/mo. at state farm.

Whats the number for co-op?
I looked them up on the yellowpages site but all I found was a website with no number.
