places to take her out? - Click HERE for Original Thread

trdcelica
Hmm, I wanna take her new places .
we've done all that wine and dining

what else can I do or some things to do with her?

DomesticDrifter
Theater sports at the Verscona theater on friday nights. Starts at 10, funny as hell!

Theres this coffie shop in Crestwood by Debaji's that has jazz bands play friday and saturday nights around 8:30-9ish. Good atmosphere... kinda different.

I recomend both:bthumbup:

REFLUX
My best suggestion is to start up something new, something both of you have never done.

Be open minded to new activities & the two of you will have something in common that you can share & grow together in :)

Of course, if you can't see yourself with her in the long term, I.E. wife, it may be better to do things that are more superficial because if you ever break up, you may never do the things you took up with her since it'll have a bitter/bad/negative association.

Start slow, start small.

trdcelica
alright cool.
this is a serious one tho I hope

Fair enough, love is blind & difficult to predict :)

Take up something that is relatively neutral.
For example, if you're a very athletic person and she's very conscious of looking good, taking up something like Wall Climbing might not be a good idea since you'll prbly do well in it & she'll be hesitant to break her nails.
Dig?

trdcelica
damn u hitch or something? lol jks thanks
u must of got alot of experience under the belt?

Age? Interests?

With summer coming up - definetely consider Street Performers and the Fringe.

If you're into the artsy scene - the Timm's Centre @ UofA has some unique plays.

As well, the Citadel is a great bet - I've never been let down by a performance there.

REFLUX
trdcelica:
haha thanks

TrevorK's got a good head on his shoulders too :)
But yeah, tell us how it goes with your girl, hope you two find something you both enjoy!

dsl55
Definatley the various festivals we have here! Street performers is great to take a girl to, and if you're single, there's plenty of good lookers too :D

Edit:
If you can't control looking at other beautiful women, avoid places where they go, or else your new SO might not eb very happy haha...

Or your SO can just be realistic & come to accept the FACT that EVERYONE looks.
Even him/her.

It's just like seeing a nice car/nice shirt/nice pair of shoes, you can't help that it grabs your attention but just because you are looking doesn't mean you will act on it.

People who don't like their SO's "looking" = insecure.

dsl55
I totally agree with you 100%, but the fact is your SO might be insecure...

How about a sporting activty in the river valley
- A bike ride, if you don't have bikes, you can rent them.
- Blading, one can teach the other how to, or try to fighure it out togather.
- Rent a canoe and hit the river.

Put a twist on the 'wine and dine'.
-Make a picnic, she'll love the effort
-The Taste of Edmonton is coming up, always fun.
-Rocky Mountain Food and Wine is and awesome time. Take a cab, dress up, it's a posh event.

Good Luck

DomesticDrifter
rollerblading in the park is clutch when it comes to blading with chicks!

you can make a day out of it, make a picknick or bring some bbq stuff to throw on the firepit, some blading, some frisbie... its all good! done that many times!

plus the frisbie is always a good time... "opps i threw it to high you'll have to jump to catch it:D ... opps i don't know my own strength (throws it past her just to watch her walk and pick it up)

plus that way you're outside all day... and have you met a chick that doesn't like sun tanning?

dsl55
Learn something new together as REFLUX has said, it's good advice.

I like the being outside all day blading and such idea, if it's a scorcher, the bikini will be coming out.

*On an off note, when do you guys go blading?

bigmack000
excersize

There's nothing sexier than a healthy, sweaty body. go blading or soemthine like thet play volly ball. some easy sport you can have fun with

music

find a place that has jazz ro soem type of music that you enjoy or can sjut chill to :).

go out side

go for a hike or a walk ANYTHING!

take a small road trip

Plan a day when you can get away alone. Pack a picnic lunch and jump in the car. Drive to the nearest countryside with the radio off so you can spend quality time talking. Then, find a spot outside and set up your meal.

I recomend left over mac and schesse in tupper ware oh yeah

GAMES!

Revert back to your childhood and spend a night playing your favourite board games. Want to spice things up? Try your hand at kinky hahaha Scrabble or risqué Risk-the loser of each game has to remove an article of clothing.

(god i hate hwo i can't spell i lsoe every time!)

common ground movie

Why not enjoy a romantic evening in? Decide on a genre (i.e. romance, drama or comedy) of film and rent a movie you'll both enjoy, then crash otneh couch with soem pop corn dude

coffee

It's time to rekindle your relationship. Arrange to meet at a neighbourhood café. When you arrive, pretend you've never met and try to hit on one another.

Honestly,
I've got a good idea. you hop in your girl pack a picnic basket go sit on the ledge rground by the fountain eat lunch then you go for a walk through the grounds and across the high level bridge. it's a nice walk there are lots of nice views there. And if you do it in the early evening downtown looks really nice when it lights up at night. Or you can watch the sunset off the highlevel bridge. I'd do that but considering that it requires you to ask a girl out I'm kinda fucked cause I'm hella shy.

EEDZ
I'm going to say try and find a little cafe or restaraunt or even hang out spot that both of you decide on, and can call your own little "it" place.
(this isn't so much on the romantic side... but it has worked out as 'cute' for me in the past.)
It creates somewhere with memories, its somewhere you can both feel comfortable, and with your little "it" place...
you can always have a plan b

Do something you hate so much you know she'll never ask you to do it.

If she used to study ballet and has never really talked about it, for example, take her to the ballet.

I dunno. It's hard to explain. If you're attentive and observant though, I'm sure you can think of something she'd love to do but knows you dislike and therefore never mentions it.

You don't have to make it a regular thing, though perhaps you will. I had an ex who loved art galleries, while I'm the kind of guy who has bare walls and stuff, so she never asked me. So one day I took her out to one and had an awesome time. I didn't really enjoy the gallery, but I enjoyed her enjoying the gallery. It shows that you listen and that you're willing to go out of your way for her.

b18c5crx
we drove around, watched a movie, spent some time on jasper

worked fine lol:dunno:

my cost efficient experience has taught me that chicks love homemade stuff. i used to show up and random times to my last girlfriends condo with a movie and make her supper. she loved that more than most anything else we did.

But be careful on doing this too much or too willingly.
Might make it seem like you have no backbone, may generate some "taking for grantedness"
or might make her think you actually like ballet or the art gallery

my girlfriend hates edmontons resturants so it makes my life a little harder. she has been practicing the art of baking for years and its funny because she enjoys having me over playing video games talking to her while she bakes me a feast rather than eating the terrible cusine in her opinion that edmonton has to offer.

I second that , thats the way it should be

ReasonOne
I could write a novel on this topic (some people on this board know me for writing long winded answers).... :p

I agree with quite a few people here with choosing something totally random that neither of you have done before. You both benefit from learning something new and sharing that experience together.

What also works is re-introducing a hobby that she used to do that she likes but hasn't tried in a very long time. The fact that you want her to get in touch with the things she used to do will show that you are actually interested in learning more about her.

Music is a perfect choice for hobby re-introduction. For example, many years ago my gf was a very competent player of the flute. She had pulled hers out of storage and was considering selling it to a music shop (apparently the type she has was quite valuable). I asked if she could play it for me and she got all bashful and shy and said she wasn't good at it anymore. So I made a deal with her. I would play the piano for her if she would play the flute for me.

She got all wide-eyed and didn't believe I could play the piano, but I assured her I knew enough to get by. A few days later we were at a friend's house who had a piano. She asked if I could play something for her. So I spent 15 minutes conjuring up a song about her out of thin air and started playing. It was kind of silly and downright cheesy. But it turned out to be a hit - she loved it.

A week later she played for me. Every so often we play songs together with old sheet music we have. And to this day she hums the song I wrote about her every once in a while.

Another option is sharing one of your hobbies with her and allowing her to share one of her hobbies with you.

I got all my gf's into cars that way (no pun intended). I remember one incident years ago in high school when I took my Garnet Red '66 442 to a classic car meet. My gf at the time had no interest in going, but she went along for my sake. I saw how a lot of the other people treated their spouses or gf's at the meet. The women would sit in one corner griping about how much their SO's spent on their cars, how much time it has taken away from them and so on. The men would ogle their machines in their own typical fashion. Right when I parked my car a few guys were starting to talk to me and one of them told my gf that the ladies are parked over there. She proceeds to shuffle off to the corner with her head hung low.

After talking for a couple minutes with the guys I excuse myself and head over to bring her back. She's a little upset, saying that she doesn't feel like she belongs over there. I insist and bring her back to my car. After a couple of minutes she starts asking me questions about my car. I answer every question to her satisfaction no matter how stupid it may have seemed. If she wanted to see something I would grab a creeper from the trunk, crawl under the car and show her. Over the course of the day something happened. She began to enjoy herself! By the end of the evening she had managed to get her picture taken inside over 2 dozen cars. I would converse with the owners telling them that this is a woman that WANTS to learn about cars and would they mind if she takes a peek around their cars. Just about all of them were more than happy to show there rides off. When everyone is starting to leave I offer her the keys to my car and tell her to drive. Just about everybody there was pretty stunned that I let my gf drive my car. It took 15 minutes to leave the meet because both men and women would approach me with one simple question... "You let her drive your car???" My answer? "Why not? How do you start someone's appreciation for cars if they don't get to shift through the gears or chirp the tires for themselves? Once you get that feeling there's no turning back."

And she never did. I let her drive my 442 to and from school sometimes for months. Then one day she asked me out of the blue... "I've put my Rabbit convertible up for sale. My parents think I'm crazy...It's cute, but boring to drive. Can you help me find something faster?"

In high school, more beautiful words could never have been spoken from a young hottie. We spent weeks pouring over pcitures of cars. She fell in love with the look of the 80's Buick Regal. I called up my dad and asked him to use his connections as a wholesaler to find a good deal on a V8 powered Regal. He came through with flying colours - even above and beyond. A friend of a friend happened to have a smooth running Grand National that had a rough body. A deal was made with the owner. She brought it home and when her parents saw it they insisted on sending it away to get the bodywork fixed. After a couple of months figuring the car out and she became downright dangerous in it. It didn't take long for her to ask me to teach her how to service her own car. Soon she had all sorts of other technical questions that I couldn't answer. Within 3 months she had joined a Grand National Club. Two years later she became an authority on servicing turbos and ECM's and members were asking HER questions. I had created a monster.

Things didn't work out and we grew up and drifted apart, but last time I talked to her a few months ago shewas married with a great job, 2 kids and 3 cars in upstate New York. What kind of cars you ask? A brand new Honda Accord, her husband's 300ZX (he's a Nissan fanatic).... and the same Grand National my dad had found for her all those years ago. She told me she never forgot the influence I had on her or the good times we had together.

Just my (very long winded) 2 cents.

sorry man, not trying to be a dick. just not into reading a book if i can get a paragraph. good tips in here. nice to get some new ideas.

some things that i have done are:

-do a day trip to the calgary zoo or some other surrounding city, ie. Canmore. take a camera and a picnic and just drive. kinda like a small day trip.

-also if you go to the leg. grounds at night its lit up very nice. they also have a "lovers lane" thats lit up w/ benches. the trees arch over the walk way and its a nice place to just sit on the bench and chat/kiss. kinda romantic.

-another one would be to just take a drive and check out the huge houses around the city. I nice walk is down Ada Blvd along the river just off the Capilano bridge. some nice houses along that street too.

- during the summer you can rent at Hawrelek park some small paddle boats to float around in.

-another good one is to drive out of town a bit so that you can actually see the stars. just park the car on some side road and lay on the hood or open the sunroof and just stare at the stars and look for satelites and shooting stars.
rarely you can see them from the city as it never really gets that dark due to all the streetlights.

-since winter is comming, you could build snowmen, go skating at the various rinks, hit the slopes, check out the ice festival, take her to some stand up comedy if shes got a good sense of humor.
