| I'm not much of a car guy so I might be wrong here. I've always used 0-30 Amsoil fully synthetic on my car. I just recently went for an oil change and instead of going with 0-30 i had 10-30 amsoil fully synthetic. Personally I've noticed a bit of difference. I don't knwo the exact terminology but with 0-30 I get more of a jump when i'm on first gear with the 10-30 i can't as much. Does this have to do with viscosity? The 10-30 oil feels as though I've put in 2 months of driving since my first 0-30 change (if this makes sense to you guys) Terry help me out here. |

its in your head, since both oils have the same viscosity once they are at operating temperatures. |

Most likely it was because the oil wasn't warmed up yet, so it would have been thicker at cold temps.
Thicker = more power needed to combat friction = less "jump"
I know that when I switched from 10w30 to 20w50, there was for sure much less pick up in 1st gear.
Gas mileage is about the same for both grades of oil. |

But do different oils take longer/shorter to reach operating temp? |

it is such a minute difference you wouldnt notice it, plus its all about ambient temperature. |
