Hey guys, I stumbled upon this tranny floor jack which could be useful for dropping trannies when working on cars on jackstands (as opposed to up on hoists).
Does anyone know if there's a place to get something like this in town? (see link)

Could be an expensive endeavor to ship that item from the US. |

You could use:

Through my work I can get you an adaptor that turns a floor jack into a transmission jack of the same style as you are looking at there. $98.44 for the adaptor. If you don't have the floor jack, I can get you one for $249.00. It has a 3 ton capacity, 6 " to 22 " lift range, swivel ball bearing rear castors. If you buy both I can do them for $325.00. All prices are plus tax.
If you're interested PM me. I am sure that the adapter will work on any floor jack, and you could buy something like this if you don't want to spend that much money.

Couldn't you use a motorcycle jack?
Safely lifts motorcycles for repairs or storage
Completely lifts the vehicle instead of only lifting one end like conventional jacks
Also works for other similar-sized vehicles (i.e. 4 wheelers, riding lawnmowers)
1,500-lb capacity
Just an idea... |

| princess auto is having a sale on those right now... exactly the same as a motorcycle jack, but with a deck whose shape is all adjustible to fit whatever tranny, and it's really low profile. |

Well, I lucked out. Went to Princess Auto and they had EXACTLY what I need - nearly identical to what was shown in my harborfreight link above.
The tranny/diff jack was on sale for $89.99.
I also bought some swivel-head ratchets and some 1/2" drive extentions (up to 30"), all on sale too.
I just might be fully equiped for my own tranny drop now. :D |
