worst marketplace on the net? quite possible - Click HERE for Original Thread

HJr
yes, i usually dont post, but i do spend a fair amount of time on this forum (though less and less as the format becomes worse due to the increase in traffic). I strongly sudgest that the forum designer or webmaster or whoever is responsible take a look at beyond.ca's marketplace. sure its not perfect, but it puts this one to shame quite royally. This is the worst marketplace of all the forums i frequent. I know im not the only one that thinks so. so please, consider revamping it for everyones sake.

what do you dislike so much about it? I really don't see why you think its the "worst marketplace on the net" :dunno:

If you also look at beyond's active users, at any time, their numbers just about quadruple ours. They have a wider user base there compared to us. So, in their case, it makes more sense to have it organized into categories.

:dunno: What we have right now is working fine for everybody so why tinker with something that's doing fine?

I don't think we have enough traffic here to justify what beyond has.

But a little better organization of some form would be nice!

Just to put things into perspective, 780Tuners uses a similar Marketplace setup as compared to Honda-Tech.com.

See the following link:
http://hondamarketplace.com/

Now if you notice, they only have a slightly different forum grouping as this forum does.
The "For Sale" and "Want To Buy" is separated.

But for the most part, it is essentially similar.

Now consider this, HT = one of the Internet's largest forums.

How does HT get away with such a basic system when they are so big?
Why would it be any worse for a smaller forum such as 780Tuners?

Other people have brought up good points as well and I'd just like to put a different view into this discussion, of course I have no final say in the design of the forum.
Just posting as a user ;)

I find Beyonds a bit annoying actually. The diff forums can be a bit ambiguous and its a tough decision where to place your thread sometimes. That and the mods are nazi's with the delete button.

NICO also has a VERY busy marketplace and they have the same set-up as 780. Sponsor forums, cars for sale, parts for sale.

its way to generalized, and that tied with the fact that you have a minumum 4 character search means that basically you need to be checking the market place every single day to stay on top of products. if you guys seriously dont find it anoying then so be it, but i know i dread trying to use this forum sometimes.
