Jim,
If we saw a drunken driver or just a really stupid speeder, are we allowed to call them into 911? Should we even consider or do the police tend to not respond to these calls b/c it might not be true or too hard to catch the suspect in the act (in the case of the stupid speeder).
I'm asking b/c after dropping off my girlfriend i was driving home southbound on 97st in the middle lane. On 153st i was stopped at a light w/ a green hyndai on my right, but as we proceeded to go through the intersection on the green, this red corsica comes BLAZING from 153st and starts to merge onto 97st. Thing was he was going WAY to fast so he started to drift out of the merge lane, then into the 1st lane (right infront of that green hyndai which was slightly behind me) and then into the 2nd lane, MY LANE. I layed on the horn and had to brake hard (good thing we were only going from stop). He didn't even bother to slowdown or stop, he just speeded up until he was like 2 blocks ahead.

chris,
you knowing my previous employment situation.................let me say this...........................
YES....do it and they will respond if they can...a possible impaired driver is a priopity 2 call (1 being the highest).......dont ever follow them because you are putting yourself and others in danger, get the licence plate # if you can and the best possible description of the car, direction of travel, approx. speed and manner of driving, # of occupants etc...

Pu tit this way, each and every time I see a suspicious driver or blatantly obvious drunk driver (double checked of course) I WILL call 911 and report it.
How would you feel if the drunk driver actually hit someone you knew?.
I wouldn't be able to live with myself. |
