Car looking ugly(56k warning) - Click HERE for Original Thread

kypraio
Hey thought i might share these with you, my car going through a complete exterior overhaul. They are fixing all dents and such on the body and that is what the black marker circles are for if u can see them here and there. They are replacing both front fenders due to rust and dent's, the driver side door is getting replace and the left rear quarter panel is being completely cut out and replaced. On picture 1 you can see it is dented and rusted by the wheel well, they are cutting from where the door ends to the piece of tape on the top and to the piece of tape by the taillight and replacing that huge panel. They are cutting it tonight or tomorrow so i will have more pictures soon. The car is getting repainted the same red and i can't wait :D.

Feel free to ask questions if you want.

Whats your tab gonna be?

kypraio
5 grand which is a really reasonable price for this kind of a job. I got quotes as high as 10 grand.

Bet it'll look mint, whats the ETA on completion?

kypraio
I took it in on the 13th of June, they said about a month but i'm guessing a month and a week to be safe. They are also refinishing my old tail lights by clear coating them and they come out so nice and glossy so everything will look very good. :)

Where are you getting it done?

R.K.

Extreme Effect on Parsons Road. Reflections quoted me 10 grand for the same job, i told them to fuck off cause thats triple the price of the car itself.

Reflections painted my car and did an awesome job. But it wasn't cheap.

Thats why i went there in the first place because of seeing your car. Oh well, i've seen work coming out of this shop and its of great quality, just shows that you really have to shop around for a good price. The guy who i'm dealing with is a stand up guy too and doesn't mind me coming in every few days to check out the progress.

Uh oh - my wife is gonna kick your ass when she see's her old car looking like that... heh heh , just joking!

(*Probably she's gonna kick my ass for convincing her to sell it when she see's what it looks like when it's done!)

Can't wait to see the finished product.
Richard.

The stock colour is actually a rare colour on rx7's Royal Maroon Metallic, paint code 3A, only offered in 86/87 i believe. It's a nice red with sparkles in it.

And i pm'd ya

Looks like a perfect time to strip out sound deadening material and other usless interior panels, passanger seats, trunk crap, spare tire, dash.. adding a roll cage.. And making a race car. But that just might be me. ;)

kypraio
I don't want to gut the car, i like the car to look complete not all naked. I might still put a cage in it but keep the carpet in it etc.

Nightstalker
Go big or go home. Carpet is for sissys :) On a side note, your car can actually get a lot faster just by dropping wieght. A lot of my friends have become faster by taking stuff out then they have by adding your standard bolt on mods.

:P Thanks and actually the reason being is because its more of a restoration project. I don't want to mess with the original bodylines and such, i mean some things are getting changed and are already changed but i like these cars as is. Plus the rear seats are hard to find, even though they are useless its nice to know you have one with rear seats. :D

Hey i'd actually like to know some opinions on a colour to powdercoat my rims after getting them repaired. There's nothing wrong with silver like they are now but.. its just.. silver is bland.
Open to all opinions just not silly ones.

Black wheels can look really good on a red car.

kypraio
Thanks for input, any others? By the way i got pictures today of the rear quarter panel cut out and will post them soon.

kypraio

They are still going to cut the piece on the top they just need it there for now to test fit and overlap etc.
