Even if you are from a different province, could you guys please list what insurance companies you know will supply insurance for a RHD car? Perhaps that insurance company is also in Ontario, and maybe they will insure the vehicle here as well.
I realise a number of companies in British Columbia and Alberta supply insurance for Right Hand Drive Japanese cars, but every one that I have contacted in Ontario have declined such support.

off topic, but Christian have you been able to determine the quoted cost for LHF to ship from where the car lands in Canada to Ottawa yet?
I could check if you don't have time right now. Will you be dropping the car off at the LHF yard in Vancouver, or will you have them pick the car up from a location of your choice? If it is a location you decide, can you type out the address and i'll contact LHF and inquire about total fees.
Thanks |

CO-Operators is who I am with now, they insure modded cars too as well as modded RHD cars :D :D :D :D
Anyways, by law I don't think they can deny you insurance on a RHD car? My friend Challenged AMA Insurance here b/c they woudln't insure the car and won - they now insure RHD cars. |

ING first told me they won't insure it cause the cost of importing body parts from Japan would cost too much, so I said, well for that there's a north american equivelent. Then they said the same though about the engine.. I said the same thing.. I told them the only diff was RHD and lower miles on the vehicle.. they said it's on their restricted list.
I even called IBC and I talked to them.. said they would check into it.. never got back to me... and last time I called IBC I had an answer or rather a resolution in 36hours. |

Just called my insurance co. (TD/Primmus) for a quote on a Celica GT-Four (alltrac) and they quoted me $460 for a year of PLPD with fire/theft/vandalism. Full collision with glass was under $800.
...sometimes it pays to be an old fart... |

Hey I am with Allstate, and my broker told me that his under writers wanted to refuse insuring my car since it was RHD, but he said they were unable to, since it is a legal car in Canada.
So technically no company can refuse u insurance since it is a LEGAL car in Canada. |

They don't ensure anything with skylines, that's probably your mechanics job to ensure that it's fine! |

| They're expensive and don't insure modded vehicles from my experience as they're too much liability. I would suggest co-opperators, they will insure modified and exotic and wahtever you can throw at them vehicles and will ensure them knowing how they differ from normal cars! |

| $3,500 ~ 5,000 for liability I mean, not full coverage in Ontario. Full would be ridiculous for me at the moment. |

Because I pay $1584 for my insurance per annum. Because that includes comprehensive coverage (fire, theft, vandal, etc) in addition to the basic $1million liability.... that price I've listed also includes the surcharge for my 3 speeding tickets. So again you are wrong. |
