this is a question to anyone who can answer with someting useful.
thanks for your input.
-i am planning on rebuilding a motor to replace my 1985 5mge
power plant in my supra(85) i saw a 1984 cressida engine, and i can get 9.5:1 compression pistons for it to make it like the 85, my plan is to do a basic build up so as to have a very reliable car.
any suggestions on what i could possibly do instead of this option, or suggestions of purchase of the cressida engine?
anything you got is good. (i plan on using my original intake, and
purchasing headers for the exhaust side, so all i need is a long block.)
thanx all.

a turbo is much more effective for power so if you plan on big power then forget the header.
the cressida motor will work, just use your wiring and harness, intake, etc. but the block and head will work fine. if your buyiong new pistons you can get some custom ones from Rabidchimp.com, he can get any ratio you want. also the 85 was 9.2 not 9.5.
First, what are your goals? just to rebuild it, build up, big power, swap later? these are things that one must consider before embarking on quests, other wise you may waste a lot of money like i did.:D |

thanx for the input so far
my plans are to go for a swap later, i want this motor to look stock, so no turbo, but as much power as i can get from the N/A
set up, hence header, and re-use my old intake...etc, i was also considering an intake porting, and new injectors, i also plan on balancing the rotating assembly and going for a slight over-bore, i am mainly just going for the most reliable engine i can get and hoping for at least the 168hp that it is rated at stock.(but of course at the wheels!!!), i was also considering a transmission swap(to manual), and i was wondering on a good place to purchase differential kits for this car(bearings, gear sets, seals, and limited slip components that don't break the bank.)
at this moment this is all i can think of right now.
if anyone can help me on this i thank you.

For the diff, get a truetrac LSD for the front diff of a toyota 4x4, 7.5" diff. couple other things needed, will handle over 400 hp with hard abuse, people have shattered 3 trannys and not had the rear end get hurt.
www.rabidchimp.com sells them with all parts needed for the conversion.
for power i would get the head ported and valves polished, bigger valves are too expensive, port matching the intake (TB, plenum, lower intake manifold), 210 injectors from a mr2, corrola gts, etc. blue top injectors.
i would do an air intake and exhaust as must dos, these motors love breathing mods, it will respond very well to them.
overall i wouldn't even do all that, i would do a intake pipe, header and exhaust if you really want more power. the exhaust i wouldn't even do unless it needed doing or can be reused effectively on the swap later.
