How come that there's always a need to bash the girls at the import shows publicly? :dunno: Everyone needs a fair chance to compete and show what they have and flaunt...
They may not be like some of the other well-known ones (Kaila Yu, etc.) but come on, do we really have to poke fun at/of their characteristics? |

Yeah that was one of my girlfriends, friends, the stripper and her had some beef from before, she told her to meet her after the show was done but the stripper didn't want to wait. It was very entertaining especially being front row.:D |

| Not all the EZ girls were horride looking but i was sure dissapointed to see the lack of respect some of those girls had for a car. Especially that asian girl. Some of them climbed on my car like it was a fucking jungle gym. Sure dissapointing when i work my bag off for a nice car and keep it in mint condition and they leave scratches on it. I sure hope they buff out. |

During the entire preperation of the DTP show, I have not heard you volunteer, or make any suggestions on how it could be made even better.
So the next time I see "noturbotalons import car show" in town, I'll be sure to attend with a closed mind just like you.:drama: |

yeah, i didn't really feel like i got my monies worth at DTP.. the whole scene feels like i'm in Need for Speed Underground.. just kinda felt superficial and 16 year old kids goin "yeeeee RB26 yee check it check it". i dunno what happened to all the do-it-yourself, all-go car enthusiasts?
am i the only one who thinks like this?

| I think everyone needs to know what to expect considering the size of edmontons market, you can't expect Cali calibre shows or rides, just enjoy it for what it is and help support and grow an already growing industry. |
|
|
| louren22 |
| Ya, I realize we cant expect huge shows, but if anyone wondered through the parking lots outside, you would have found plenty of rides that would have been a wonderful addition to the show. Maybe they should open it up to individual cars, not just clubs/companies? How much is it to enter a club? |

Most of the shows do allow solo rides, last time I entered was $40. |

I thought these shows (Urban nights, DTP, etc.) always were open to individual cars? Are you saying there weren't any individual cars there yesterday? That's surprising.
Even when entered as a club, the individuals in the club still had to pay their individual fees. The only difference having a club, as far as I know, is more space allotment (based on how many cars) and lower entry fee per car based on numbers. Individuals pre-registered, or clubs with less than 5 cars, had to pay $40 per car. Clubs with 5 or more - $35, 10 or more - $30, etc. |
|
|
| louren22 |
| There definetly werent many individual entries..... |

I certainly agree, there was a real lack in performance engines with numbers backing them up.
But then you have to ask yourself, what does Car SHOW mean?
If you have a fast car with time slips or dyno numbers, fine.
But if you just have a fast car without any engine mods that SHOW anything....you'd be essentially looking at a stock engine.
What does that SHOW?
There is nothing to draw the eye in, there is no eye candy.
If you want to see fast cars, check out Sport Compact Challenge at Bud Park.
If you want to see flashy rides, Driven To Perform will be the better choice.
You're kind of looking for something in the wrong place, no? |

That is the best advice anyone can get. All people do is bitch and complain about cars not having any power this and this. Well you came to an indoor car show, what do you expect? |

i disliked DTP here, but mainly its cause the cars ive seen before and they dont offer anything really cool. Admittedly there was a pimp ass EG k-series swap, but i dunno i think ive grown out of spendin 22 dollars to see some cars and some girls. I think when i was 17 and the girls were older and i waslike omg. butnow its no longer a novelty and i see nicer cars at the track or at the week drag meet at the Java Hut.
Since vancouver was a different show , i dunno i have no ill comments on the models, it takes something to go out and help out and take pictures and be oggled by 14 and 15 year olds all day. I still like it when the toyo models or the ones who get the big bucks show up and stand by your car for pics ;) even tho my girlfriend doesn't allow it anymore, and no model would stand by my ride anymore :( |

Re. the models?
Is DTP supposed to be an all ages show or what? If I had children and took them to the show, I'd be pretty upset. Some girls acted plain vulgar. This isn't the fault of the promoters, but one of the sponsers IMO.
As for the cars, I was disappointed, but it's really up to the people to make their own show. It would be nice if the promoter brought in some big cars from out of town, but I guess that's up to them.
My favorite cars were probably the Z's. Clean cars, no BS.
I missed all of the stage stuff, which is one of my favorite parts. |

i went, didn't feel it was worth $12, good thing i didn't have to pay it, lol. i've never heard anything good about EZ and looking at the work in person i was less impressed. Some of my "hack" jobs, look better. and bringing a car without a hood? The IS300 that they failed to rebadge properly. and painting the nice black plastic blue? kinda dumb, imo.
i liked the old Z cars, i have a soft spot for em, unfortunetly when i was there most of the newer 300's and the 350 had the hoods shut.
i said while there that i won't be putting my car in one of these but now i'm thinking that the Edmonton Supra Club should put some cars in next year, they will at least show some good, hard earned, hard working guys car with lots of planning and ingenuity.
i liked the old carbed prelude too, must haul ass. |

Its pretty sad to see when judges have a "hands off" policy to cars, and the models who have zero respect just crawl all over them.. I saw the scratches oin the 350, and they made me cringe.
However, luckily for me my car came out spot free minus a few handprints here and there. Although, i know for a fact someone had gotten into my car as the doors were unlocked when i came back.. |

I agree! I took my little brother along, because he loves the cars as much as I do and I really wish the models didn't act so vulgar (the humping and sex postions are a little much for little children) I was very disgusted and won't be bringing my little brother along anymore. |

damn my first complaint of the show was... why the motherslapping hell was there a oldsmobile aero with just dubs in there? Like someone mentioned before some cars and the parking lot would be great to be on the show.. and sure beats some of the cars there..
And like someone else mentioned it was basicly EZ motorsports advertising everywhere.. |

yea, a sunfire is not my #1 choice, believe me, but its what i worked out to get, so i do the best with what i am given.
and the car itself is quite unique, because it is more of a challenge to work on something where alot of the parts need to be custom, and for me, its all about uniqueness.
it is the only turbocharged sunfire in western canada, and is the first to have that aerogear body kit...it is exclusive to my car right now which makes it the only sunfire with it.....
and to have a sunfire that is that unique, and to have a bunch of excellent sponsors backing me makes the car a success in my opinion...
but to each his own....i know that it is a sunfire and its not going to compete again 350Z's etc, but i think that "for a sunfire" it is impressive and deserves some respect, because most of the "modded" ones roll with type-x shoulder pads, a nice 8'' muffler tip, and some sweet 16'' motegi MR7's.....lol (sorry but its true) |
|
|

Switching gears here, how about rather than continue to bash the EZ models why not give some props to some of the other girls there, like the ones reppin' Fullblown Motorsports for example:
As far as I could tell they were:
- friendly
- not disrespectful
- not vulgar
- not dressed like ____
etc. |

Car show was alright. Props to all the people who put all the effort and work into their cars.
I think the biggest thing I noticed that sort of hindered the show a bit was the stage...having some entertainment is cool, but I couldnt even talk to people it was so loud at some points. Its a car show, not a dance club...
Also everyones attention was focused on the stage, and no one was visiting sponsor booths or actually looking at cars/talking to people.
I was watchin the DC5 guys play wrestling games on xbox.
We need to organize more of an edmonton social car gathering rather than a car show. We should get ALL clubs out to a BBQ for some frisbee and football. Pitch together and rent a bowling alley for a day and pit the clubs against eachother
780tuners golf tournament!
Something more social and casual rather than all organized and time-framed.
Just my 2 cents. |

Yes I COMPLETELY agree there, I was walking past one of the Fulblown models and one of the squeezed in between myself & one of their cars....she actually said "Excuse me"!!!
It sounds like nothing but it makes a huge difference to hear someone say that when not a SINGLE other person in the show did

Same here I was talking to Josh and went by the booth the girls were very respectful. They didn't have to do any "sexual" acts or inappropriate gestures to grab anyone's attention. Good job FulBlown
PS yeah Terry called me a naggar.. :tear: what a jerk sniff (jokes jokes) |

I prefer my models dirty, vulgar, and willing to dry hump my leg anytime
As for most of the other comments that I've read in this post, it's the same things I read after every other car show. There was too much show and not enough go, most of the cars looked stock looking, some of the cars looked dirty, cars in the parking lot were better, there were too many skylines or z cars, there wasn't enough variety of cars, there was not enough vendor booths, $12 was way to expensive to see the same cars I see at UC, there wasn't enough entertainment, models were ugly, blah blah blah...
All I have to say is that it takes alot of work to get ones cars to show quality and it takes even more guts to step up and participate because you just know there will be the haters. I started out with bringing my prelude to shows 2 years ago and it was pretty much stock. Ya, I got the comments like, that car looks stock, but I didn't care since I was representing an enthusiast car club.
Car clubs have the even greater challange of organizing a group entery, bringing in a variety of cars, setting up a booth/display, all on a very limited budget (or no budget at all).
Bottom line, step up or shut up... |

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw people attending the show TOUCHING the cars. One of the models (I honestly forget which booth) came over to ask the kids to stop, but I'm sure there was much more of that kicking around.
Very disrespectful I think - I know it's one of the reasons I'd never be able to leave my car unattended at a place like that. |

That's ironic, considering what I heard from some of the V8Less organizers that there had been a noticeable LACK of Z Cars in previous years at these events. The fact that there are now enough Skylines and Z Cars to warrant their own trophy categories should be considered a good thing, no? And I didn't hear anyone complain that there were too many RSXs or Preludes...
As for the overall perceived lack of variety, its certainly not our fault or the Prelude Club's or any other club for the lack of other marques being represented. Nissan and Honda/Acura were definately well represented. But the lack of Mazda, Toyota, Subaru and Mitsubishi representation on saturday was noticeable.
I know there are at least three Mazda clubs in existence: The Wild Rose Miata Club, the Edmonton RX-7 Club and the Edmonton Mazda club. The Miata guys had an out of town run on the weekend. The RX-7 guys had an autox booked on saturday. Unfortunate scheduling, but that happens. And perhaps enough interest wasn't there either.
Toyota? There's a newly formed Supra club but I can understand if they didn't have their "shit" together or even have their numbers up yet. Isn't there an MR-2 club or Celica club in town? I seem to remember MR-2 guys used to roll in en-masse at previous SCC/V8Less events.
Mitsubishi? Where were all the DSM guys? ... or should I leave that one alone? :dunno:

Haha, yeah, she was the hottest girl there for sure. I know her from before when she used to work at Bo Diddly's. Her name is Enrica and she's smoking for a mom. |
