hey i'm thinking of getting a digital camcorder...
AND NOT just a stupid ass digi cam w/ video recording
but i'm confused to if i should get a Mini DV or a DVD recorder? i don't know what a Mini DV is...is it like a mini cd or is it like a mini tape? are these good recorders? also, i want to be able to upload the videos i record ONTO my computer so i can edit/share them with friends and im' wondering if that is possible with a MINI DV recorder. as long as i can upload them onto my computer and burn them onto a dvd i'd be happy...i just don't want to spend money on a minidv recorder and then need a minidv player...does this make sense?! |

mini-DV media are little tapes, but give digital picture quality. Significantly better than the older style tapes.
Most mini-DV cameras have a built-in firewire connection so connecting to a computer is a snap. |

how do u know if you have a fire wire connection? also....if i doin't ahve a firewire connection, are they hard to install/expensive?
i need something to record parties and stuff throughout my summer and it has to be small and compact..not bulky...also, do you know if its possible to plug the mini dv recorder into a tv and watch what u filmed on the tv? |

installing a firewire card can be done in about 5 minutes by someone that knows how to use a phillips screwdriver.
and alot of th DV recorders have cables to connect direct to the TV as well as the computer. there is also som miniDV recorders that record directly to a DVD ram or RW disk |
