a tragic day in the life of my accord - Click HERE for Original Thread

newaccorddriver
today is a sad sad day in the life of my accord. the reverse gear which was grinding is grinding much worse then before, and now, it is not going into reverse... good thing its the long weekend and my friend is able to help me remove(hopefully) a transmission from pick n pull tomorrow...

soon enough ill be removing the automatic and giving it the big finger, and welcoming the new one by giving it a new home in my accord...

thanks man. my friends helping me out and elijah said he would help me out as well. im getting a new car soon(so my dad says laughing at me with 20k), but my dad wont get me a basic accord cause he says 'your my only son and hondas are too good for you, get a merc'. funny thing is i want the supra and the older accords as their more fun to drive, but mercs just as good(if its sticky). im surprised he says hes gonna get my sisters a CR-V to share though(they gotta share, but they dont even like to drive cause they get me to do it:dunno: )

im thinking if i should go ask napa how much their clutch kits are, CDN tire charges 151/tax for theirs. has anybody went to bumper to bumper for parts, or are they just a distributer?

new as in the sense that its newer then my accord, but not a new merc as he doesnt want to spend 37k on a car i might crash, the one we had our eyes on is 23k and is from 2002. he also said he would get me a car for grad which he didnt cause i already had the accord. either way id still prefer to drive my old accord then a new(used) merc cause if im seen driving it people start to think im a spoiled kid(which at times i can be). if you ever went to vancouver you would know exactly what i mean. most of my friends(mostly the asian ones) got brand new cars for grad presents which ranged from a civic all the way to a A4 and their all brand new... they should know if they opened their minds just a little and got a used one, they can potentially save 10k for getting a 2 year old car(now thats alot of money saved)

think of a day and see how everybody thinks, i know im free just about every day after 5pm, although theres a chance i might not show up with an accord, i might show up with my grampas corolla.

im not a rich kid, not even close. each paychecks about 400$ after taxes. i try to save up as much of it as possible so i can truly treat myself to something nice in the future. i believe that everyone usually falls in love with their first cars. i know when i started driving the accord i can only think of how bad it is, now that its breaking apart, i actually want to fix it up. most people would probably thikn its dumb, but my friend just bought an 84 dodge caravan cause it was his first car. as dumb as it sounds, if my accord breaks, ill buy another one like it:)

Hey man, seeing all the posts u have been doing and the devotion to your car, which most people would throw away, that shows character. That's a stong thing to have. If there is anything I can do for you man to get your ride back and how u like it, just let me know. I'll do what I can.

my friend and i are going back for round 2 of junkyard tear apart later. we WOULD have had the transmission out and that part would have been over, but we didnt bring the extra tools which we needed like those forks and a BIG hammer. i guess thats the only thing that really held us back. either way round 2 is this saturday for us probably, hes not working so he can probably help me out :) thanks for offering a hand though:blue:

im pretty sure that everybody thats owned 1 or more cars and have it break down would like it back. my friend wants his 84 dodge caravan back and i want my accord to run like new again. 2ndgenlude wants his 2nd gen lude back again, or something to that matter(he regrets selling it and i regret not being the buyer...). im pretty sure alot of people would like their first cars back though(unless its a ford pinto, that thing can burn in hell, literally)

I hear yah man. The car I have right now is my first, and I'll keep it till the frame rusts through. Engines, body parts basically anything on the car is replaceable. But when the frame goes sorry to say ....bye bye

when the frame goes, can you see yourself looking for another one of the same gen?

Damn straights. there aren't really anyother cars I would look at. I love the lines and the aggression of it.

i like the fact that from the front many people will wonder, is it an accord or a prelude?(i got fooled at pick n pull so many times by those pop-up lights) and their fun to drive. just hate how everything outlives the transmission, and i wonder why the transmission outlives everything else on most domestic cars

there are quite a few of those accords there, but mostly automatics...

its true that they DO look like the AE86, but those are harder to come by in the junkyard, i only remember seeing like2-4 of them and i didnt even know if their trannys would work in my car

se-i
There trannys work all the same. 3geez has some good how-tos

newaccorddriver
been working alot lately so i dont have time to fix my accord yet, just got the axle nuts off so it should be good to go in a few days. just one thing though, there are 2 lines on the back near the speed sensor that leads to the steering rack or something, but theres another line somewhere around the front, whats that line for?

EDIT: also curious as to how i would be able to put the shift rods and such into place as to take them out at pick n pull i had to take off the heat shield(or that cover). what made it easier there is the converter was taken out already
