I owned one before my current car. I love that car. It was an awesome little car to me. owned it for about 2 years. Never had any major problems with it while I owned it. I still think it is faster than my 3g. Which isn't very hard of course. Handling was awesome as well.

CryoSlash
i sat in one and drove one. Such a blast! RWD to boot. it makes this car very unique.

I dont remeber any of them being rwd, could be wrong though.

another interesting thing about these cars were that all cars within the lineup (asuna sunfire, geo storm, isuzu i mark, impulse etc.) all share the same engine mounting points. I dunno a little isuzu i mark with 1.8L impulse turbo engine would scoot along pretty well I guess. but with wiring issues, I have no idea........ :dunno:

Also I think suspension and handling were developed by lotus, at least for the isuzus anyways.

The Storm, Sunfire, and Impulse were not turbo'd unless you did it your self. And the the Impulse and the Sunfire both had suspension by Lotus. Like I said pretty amazing handling on this little car.

Yes they were man. Im not sure where youre getting your sources but they shared the same drivetrain as the impulse which came as 4wd and rwd.

I am getting my sources from owning one for about 2 years.

There was turbocharged Isuzu Impulse. No Turbocharged Asuna, or Storm

Going to look it up for a rwd one or awd one. I still am pretty positive there was not one.

]Click me Asuna Sunfire

Was not RWD or AWD. Was only made in FWD

The Isuzu's are a pretty decent little car.

I've got a I-Mark Turbo that's going to be my project car for Solo 2. Strong, reliable with the Lotus suspension they handle pretty well. Mine has 386,000km...no major work!
Some parts are starting to get a little tough to find but all in all not a bad little machine. Lots of potential if you fabricate your own pieces.

My mom has an 1990 Impulse that she bought with 175,000 on it about 3 years ago. It has 290,000 on it now and a good portion of that was me driving it hard. In all that time we have done nothing except put an alternator in it. After I quit driving it, the oil didn't get changed very often (twice a year....if that) and it still runs like a top. It has the usual rust problem which is getting pretty severe but I can't believe how well the interior is holding up. No rips and barely any visible wear. It handles great when the struts aren't blown and is just a really fun car to drive.

I would buy one for a daily driver in a heartbeat if the rust wasn't too bad. The turbo Impulse is supposed to have AWD as an option I believe and that would be a really cool little car to modify.

the asuna has a 1.8 engine vs the 1.6 of the others, and is FWD,only the pre 90 Impulses are rwd, only the 91 impulse had the awd option(I have 3)

you guys are forgetting the very rare wagon back version i think like 250-500 were made and the asuna/impulse/storm are basicaly all the same but the head lights and tail lights on the asuna/impulse are different then the storm,
the 1.8 liter engine were i think the turbo models plus there was the 2 liter in the older impulses, the 1.6 was dual over head cam or just a single. the impulse/asuna had lotus suspension and they all were fwd with the option of having 4wd the geo came turbo under the gsi name and never had lotus suspension...

i believe all my information is correct if not please feel free to post up the right stuff but more or less it is right coming from my friend who owns a stom and his friend that owns around 4 impulses/ausnas/storms:thumbup:

impulser
91-93 isuzu impulse RS, AWD(not an otpion) 1.6l 4cyl with 160hp. All the other models were rated at 140hp for the 1.6l.
The 1.8l came in the Geo storm GSi and the Sunfires only. Of the Impulse RS only 800 made it to North America during it production years. The only RWD were pre-1990 and also came with a turbo and lotus suspension. Lotus Elans of the 90-93 era carried the turbo impulse engine

You guys are all wrong.

90-91 Impulse: 1.6L 130hp

--

90-91 Geo Storm GSI: 1.6L 130hp

92+ Geo Storm GSI: 1.8L 140hp

OK so after reading the thread this may be your answer.

Fun car to drive.
May have AWD,RWD,FWD
May have Turbo
May be a wagon.
All rust in the same place
people who like them buy many.
Parts are getting hard to find.
Lotus design handling.
Should run for 300,000 KM with a bit of love.

If your thinking of buying one, take one of the Asuna/Isuzu guys who posted here to take a look at it for ya.

They what? Sunfires? I forgot what car this was with all the different ones listed.

Still take someone who knows them to look at it if you are buying.

Asuna Sunfire = Geo Storm = Isuzu Impulse.

They are all the same car, sold at different dealers with different bumpers. :)

There are some of the different Isuzu's putting down some sweet times across N.A., If you can find one with a clean body, or relatively clean and the price is right perrhaps you should get it. If you wanna bolt on a body kit or have a huge aftermarket following i suggest getting into a civic.

Currently in the states there is an Isuzu I-mark Hatchback with a swapped in turbo engine putting out around 400whp and running around in the 10's
