idiot.
Drive within YOUR ABILITY and YOUR CAR'S ABILITY
chances are your older and more mature then those that just race all the time, judging by the list of cars you own in your profile, your either a very spoiled kid, or a very established man(or women, or both) |

doctor eh... so... what should i do when ride on the hood of my friends car and fall when he brakes?(he stopped cause he 'thought i was falling') my leg still hurts like a bitch from it...
back to the topic, i dont race mostly cause theres no point, i dont have anything to prove, people in expensive sports cars dont have anything to prove either(unless they go onto a race track with it). people just do it cause they want to know they are idiots that dont have anything better to do(2ndgenlude would be a good example going at 160 in a 60 zone) |

hurt leg ....can't diagnose over the internet.
Must be seen
When I used to work Emergency, I recall a guy who was doing the same thing an one of those cars from the 70's with the big hood ornaments
Unfortunately when he slid he went sack first over the ornament
Required 11 stitches to put his nut sack back together again.

ouch, that must have been, well, distrurbing to say the least.
i slid off my friends say when he slowed/stopped the car, the bumper hit my shins but not hard or anything, no bruises so im guessing a fractured shin? im guessing itll heal itself up eventually.
still, how fast must that guy have been going to be able to cut open his sack. my friend only went a little faster then idle speed:fingersx: . i must admit, it was fun until the end. but i wouldnt want to do that again since he cant see past his dash that good cause of all the pop cans and shit there |

3 to 1
I think there's supposed to be a 2 in there somewhere.
With that much torque, do you think heeling toeing would even help??? |

whats the point of heel and toe shifting? it just lets the clutch live a little longer and provides a smoother shift, asides from that is there a real point in doing it? |

whos really in that much of a hurry that they heel and toe to save a second?(im excluding professional racers out there) |

This reminds me of a certain Honda Integra where the owner likes to overdrive his limit a little... almost damaged a couple of my cars in regular slow moving rush hour traffic on seperate days and a friends car the other night!!!!
It's sad but most people will learn the hard way before they learn the easy way and keep it at the track. It's not like we're all perfect or anything but overdriving yourself will just hurt someone else & there seems to be a lot of Mario Andretti wannabe's out there lately. |

Because it's a better way to drive, ask anyone who knows how to heel toe and they will tell you they use it. Advanced driving I guess you could call it. |

when I attended racing schools, heel toe is mandatory. You don't get to do hot laps until that is controlled.
Also the application of power into turns was stressed.
Once you get GOOD at those two aspects, then you are allowed to go FAST.
Redbaron - great meeting you. Hope you had fun on the spin around the block. If not for a little mosquito that kept bothering us we could have really had fun!!!
(Let the mosquitos drive like the want too. Just if they hit someone with sharp enough teeth, the impending law suit will ruin them and their credit for life.) |

| Hey myhorse, do you ever take the audi out to meets or just your horse? |
|
|
| myhorse |
I have only really been to one meet ( last friday ) and I brought the TR. I tried last Wed at Wendy's, but there was no one else there. That time I was in the TT.
The TT is my bad weather sports car. I absolutely love it. With the quattro and good tires, it really claws to the road.
In the winter I put on snow/ ice tires and despite my best efforts, I can not spin the car.
On the track I have driven both. But the TR is my favourite. Obviously it is faster, but it also does not have power brakes ( or abs ), steering, therefore making it a real drivers car.
When you see it blistering around the track, that is all driver technique, no fancy computer stuff.
I think the TT is a really underestimated car. My wife can do some amazing lap time in it at race city!!! Makes me look bad in the Ferrari |

| All I have to say, is LSD! What kind of idiot woudl run that kind of power without putting in a decent limited slip? No fucking wonder he went sideways. Sigh, I see that far too often, a guy who cant drive or doenst think, puts in dumb mods without thinking on how its going to affect his car. I also see guys with too much money blow it all on a nice car, but dont knwo hwo to drive it. |

My expirience was dumb I admit that (was'nt a easy tell)
but I learned a great deal about the car in ahurry I was doing amazing things with it several minutes after since I got a crash course in "respect" it actually helped me for every other hardcore car I gave a super rip in. I know how to drive and can do "self proclamed" amazing things with it but in no way do I consider myself a advanced or great driver. I dont brag about my driving cus I got alot to learn yet as a novice. |

You should bring it out to our track day on the 20th.

Very true. I hope to hit up some of the driving schools, once I'm done paying for my other school ;)
I think it's a worth while investment for any enthusiast driver.
And likewise, it was really great meeting you. Too bad there isn't more pest control when you need it ;) |

Hey Myhorse
Nice to see someone that appreciates one of the true classic types of Sports Cars. Had the pleasure of driving a former employers TR a couple of times...beautiful car.
Also nice to see you are using it. What kind of lap times did you get at Race City?
As far as driving schools, I've raced a long time and they are a great investment.
My daughter not only has to take Drivers Ed, she also has to pass the High Speed Driving School at Race City and the Ice Race School before she gets to drive on the street.
Why? Cause I know shes gonna be like everyone else and try stupid things and I want her to have the skills to save her butt. The other reason is once you have been to the real limits in a safe palce you appreciate how bad it could be trying to do the same thing on the street.

I love hearing people that don't understand why you heel toe talk about it. It becomes pretty obvious that they are not use to driving thier car to the limit into a corner.
Its all about traction.. Well its about keeping the powerband aswell, but that can be done without a heel toe. But you loose so much control. Personally I am a fan of getting shit done before I am in the middel of a corner but some times it can't be helped.
If you have to ask questions about why you should be doing it please attend at least one HPDE event. If you can get into one that also offers a driving school. Jump on it. Even something like the SVT club one that they are having at statotech. Even though I feel its way overpriced, you guys might actually learn how to drive. |
