what does a B-series engine burn? - Click HERE for Original Thread

what grade of fuel would a stock B-series engine burn? something points to premium, but i could be wrong.

im thinking about importing a JDM accord with a B20A engine in it, but im also wondering would the 4th generation accords from there have anything special about them?

Depends which ones, and what the compression ratio is. For example a B18A (or is it B18B?) takes regular, whereas a B18C takes premium. The main difference there is the compression ratio difference between the VTEC and non-VTEC versions.

i was thinking of something like the B20A engine from a 3rd gen JDM accord

inzane is correct. vtec models need the premium, and non vtec use regular.

just use reg. on that b20A.

newaccorddriver
heh, thats nice to hear, but id doubt the B20A came with VTEC as they were from the 80's

If your using a JDM engine with a JDM ecu I would recommend running higher grade gas.. Because its going to be tuned to run the higher octane. If its USDM 87 is fine. Or, you can retard your timing a bit. I don't remember if the b20a has a knock sensor or not. If it does it will ajust the timing for you, to a point.

Import a 4th gen accord!!!!

I think they come with the F20a engine and thats about 150 hp, turbo it and your a happy man!!

The jdm came with
1 piece headlight
foglights
jdm flushmount spoiler
intecection lights
and more (air freshner for example)

For more infor. on 4th gen go to

depends on USJDM or JDM engines and ecu's. Ive heard of GSRs runnin on reg gas. My b18c needs premium but thats just 91 so yeah.

All depends on compression ratio and so forth. a stock non-vtec b20 wont need premium buti f u slap a vtec head on it expect to pay more at the pump.

newaccorddriver
a vtec head? would it actually have the power of vtec? or just more agressive tuning?
