Hi G_Walk,
I know there is a fairly large Grand Am Club in Winnipeg Manitoba that has access to Grand Am parts, etc. I will talk to my cousin as has a good friend that is a member of the club with a highly modified 2001(?) Grand Am. I will relay any information along to you.
I need to call him anyways to let him know about the struts I sourced out for him.

Hi G_Walk,
I was not at the UC meet last night. I am still logging miles on my shoes, borrowing cars and hitching rides when I can. :D Hopefully soon my Supra will have the new turbo components in it, and I will have this gong show with the insurance company settled.

I am guessing since you mentioned your engine you would be looking for performance parts for the 3.4L?
You won't find much in Canada for aftermarket for the 3.4L. If you want performance I have some suggestions but as far as body kits or interior ricer lights for the GA I cant help ya there.
As far as performance goes:
1st step is get a CAI. - there are some on ebay but for the most part those are not true CA - Unless it's in the fender well or somewhere far away from the engine it won't do you any good and will probibly decrease hp. I don't know how the GA engine bay is laid out, but if its anything like my cutlass you have to re-locate the battery to the trunk for the CAI piping. If you dont want to take that route go buy a K&N factory replacement. Go and bust some holes in the factory airbox (on the bottom) as well
2nd Would be to contact Ben at 60V6 and see if he can make you a custom chip or if there is one already.
I know FFP (Fast Forward Performance) makes a UD Pulley for the 3.4 as well as dogbones but I don't know if those will work for your body/engine
If you have the monoleaf rear end you can get a custom fab'd fibreglass (i think) monoleaf. My mechanic has the contact if you want any info on that
Besides that I don't know too much else besides the stuff you can get at napa/part source. |

Hi G-walk
As a fellow Grand AM 3.4 owner I know parts for them are tough to find. I looked for years and finally parts are starting to pop up here and there. I been to countless performance shops and there is very little out there on shelves and alot of times shipped parts backorder and make that part unfun.
I managed to do some custom porting nothing serious just lowwer/upper intake ports and inner outer exhaust ports no cylinder porting. I never dynoed the results but for sure the throttle response was a huge change.
I also have a Jet PCM and it is alot of fun. The Jet PCM doesnt increase hp but it increases transmission line pressure and amps the A/F ratio a bit. I like it cus it creates a artifical stall which further helps the throttle response. Its mostly a off the line mod not really effective on the top end. It doesnt hurt top end tho so its only a benefit. One downfall to the PCM is after a long period of use it will set off your engine light and the PCU will go to default settings. It doesnt hurt the engine but it takes awhile for the engine to relearn the code. nice thing is the PCU will reflash itself and correct the light without you having to have it serviced.
As for parts (bolt on ect...) there available in the USA at such companies like "Doctor Speed" and "PFYC Grand Am"
these sites have access to superchargers , internal upgrades , Intakes , Exhausts , suspensions , PCU upgrades and many miscellanious little parts. I heard they recently made a new cam available so looks like we got tonnes of parts just getting them is the tricky part.
Other than that man we have to have custom fabricated parts or tuner shops to install stuff for us.
Hope that helps :)
Mark
P.S. thanks Mike (GOT BOOST) for telling me about this thread he thought I should have a peek in here. |
