Go to this THREAD in the Speak with your Local Law Enforcement section.

There are people on Beyond forums (In Calgary) who have reported witnesses the Impark people getting CPS to ticket the cars in their lots, and then towing those cars away.

BananaBoy
Actualy, I was just watching the local news and the provence has given Impark the right to get your info for $11 bucks a shot. :(

i dont think any private company should be able to acces your plate info only peopel should be the cops. i wonder how many theives work at impark and will call in plate numbers of $$$ cars to case shit out and b&e your car or your house. HELL they coudl call their friends to do it. if the impark guy is rigth beside your car obviously your not at home. again i thinks its bullshit

OK, let's think logically.

How do you propose Impark ensure that people pay for parking if they do not have the ability to ticket them?

Do you think they should just tow whoever is in violation?
Do you think they should have a parking attendant at each lot (Thus increasing prices)?
Do you think they should modernize each lot to somehow force people to pay (thus increasing prices, however you still run the risk of people parking illegally)?

bigmack000
they do the the ability to ticket them just people dont care cause they aren't gov issuse tickets .

I aprreciate the response let the quantify my question a little more, If for example my car is lowered and the parking lot that i park in is between to concreted poles, theoretically they cant tow my car it would casue damage therefore, shoul di worry about my car getting towed, i am unclear wether they can tow if it will cause damage?

BananaBoy
People often forget about private lots are PRIVATE land, the rules of parking on the street don't apply.

Next time, read the fine print on the sign at a Impark.

Impark agrees to let you park you car on their land for a set amount of time for a fee. By leaving your car beyond the preset time, you've breached the aggreement and Impark has the right to seek payment.

But, some how, I just don't trust Impark's with so much private info.

The last time I had my car flat decked I had to take stuff off just so he would pull it up. I would like to see them try and find someone willing to tow my car. And then I will love the part when I tell them they damaged thousands of dollars worth of exhaust parts, and they will be buying me new ones.

BananaBoy, i am a little sick of im park, i work down town, they make alot of money of the co mpany i work for and realistcally, if we pay rent we should have a parking spot i am little scared though i have gotten like 30 friggin tickets and i really dont give...

just wanted to check, i knwo they tried to falt bed my car and some of my firends cars however lowered cars and concrete columns they really cant do much then giving me a piece of paper stating that they want money or else, funny part is taht im park doesnt own they lot they rent it out and charge people, any hoto i thin i will just bribe some one buy them sum booze or a few packs of smoke, maybe even sum money, save my self the hassle of going to court after the fact.

So you think it's fair that people can park on their lots without paying, and they are allowed to give these people (Who already broke a bylaw) a ticket, which has no way of forcing them to pay?

So, we let people who already break a city bylaw use the honour system to decide whether they pay a ticket?

That's the most ignorant thing I've ever heard.

I've talked to my father about this, and he said he deals with it all the time - people complain a tow truck damaged their cars.

Basically, the tow truck can (and will) tow you away. If any damage occurs it is between you and the tow trucks insurance company to settle it - and most of the time I am told they claim the damage was pre-existing and get away with it.

I have a lot of Impark tickets built up after this winter. I always leave the winter beater in Impark parking. If they tow it they can have it.

Couldn't you just change your license plate, that way they wouldn't be able to check your ticket history.

Check out yesterdays Sun. There was an article in there stating that Impark is once again allowed back into the registry with conditions.

Just a hint - if you really want it back you can go to the auction where they sell it and buy it back dirt cheap :)

I've got cars that ran perfect for $80 before, just with no keys....

Thanks for the tip.

It just so happens that I'm in the market for a beater/commuter, where are these auctions held and how often?

I don't honor Impark tickets in any way, shape, or form. I feel that they've breached my privacy by having access to all of my personal information that someone like a law enforcement agent should only have privy to! They've sent my tickets to collection agents and I've threatened to sue the collection agents so they quit calling me. At the end of the day, I've never paid an impark ticket & have no intentions of it.

I just don't see why IMPARK should have access to all of this private information, who controls the people that work within impark from maintaining this information and confidential and private and not selling addresses, makes/models of cars, etc???

I don't think it's fair that people break the law by parking on their property and getting away with it. As a business person I'd be mighty mad if my property was being used and I wasn't getting a cut out of it.... but then again, LIFE IS NOT FAIR! If they wish to enforce the parking meter effect, then tow the damn car and quit their bitching! But I DON'T want a PRIVATE company having the ability to ACCESS ALOT of PERSONAL INFORMATION especially with the amount of IDENTITY THEFT out there. Maybe I'm paranoid and maybe I break the law (according to impark) but I still say to hell with impark and I still say they shouldn't have this info available to them. (Besides I think more ppl would pay to use the lot if they got their cars towed, damaged, etc during this process of stealing parking).

Whether you find my response logically, useful, senseless, etc. I really don't care - I am simply trying to show my displeasure in dealing with impark and distrust for them and their employees and this stems from having dealt with the company (those unpaids are unpaid for a reason!).

Call up Cliff's - they have unclaimed vehicles auctions 2-3 times per year.

Last one I was at I picked up a Camry wagon for ~$80 that runs like a dream.
