anyone ever play this?

its like a 3d shooter... but its free :P (315mb) .

http://www.americasarmy.com/

Just wondering if its any good...

dogstar
played it, it be ok.

never had the patience to sit through the training they make you do, because i wanted to make sniper, and that woulda meant way more practice on the shooting range than i was going to put in.

my friends all like it, but im not really partial to FPS games save for the old favorite, counterstrike.

give it a try, it IS free after all :)

That game is suppose to show you what being in the army is like.. what a joke... they seem to have taken out the endless ours of shitty work you get to do... anyone that is actually in the military knows what I am talking about.. Anyone up for hours and hours of picking up brass ? how about 3 days with no sleep practicing your advance to combat and section attack drills.. or walking near endless distances with 180 pounds of kit and your weapon.. Or doing air moblie traing in the shitty griffon helo that the government wasted good money on.... Sorry just venting..

Play Ghost Recon... its better anyway IMO...

BlueTurboEGG
Just d/led it yesterday

There are no stand alone missions and the entire gameplay is all online :(

REFLUX
Is this a recruiting tool?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that's freaking great, i wouldn't b surprised if there WAS some hypnosis thing going on in the background of the game......

"JOOOOOIN THE AAAAAARMY, JOOOOOOIN THE AAAAARMY"

Nightstalker
like I said this game is BS... if you guys were in the forces you would know what I am talking about..

Holee crap!

"With the passage of time, elimination of the draft and reductions in the size of the Army have resulted in a marked decrease in the number of Americans who have served in the Army and from whom young adults can gain vicarious insights into the challenges and rewards of Soldiering and national service. Therefore, the game is designed to substitute virtual experiences for vicarious insights. It does this in an engaging format that takes advantage of young adults' broad use of the Internet for research and communication and their interest in games for entertainment and exploration. "

What band of lawyers and Personal Image consultants came up with this drivel?!...

Nightstalker
the ones that want young people to sign there life away for 4 years...

SlowAzzPorsche911T
propaganda i tells ya.. for the fueling fire of the need for america to enforce it's image as a superpower to the rest of the world and wanting those brave young soldiers to fight to keep america free.. the few, the proud, the brave... what utter bullshit  and free from what? slaughter 1000's to kill the few?

Nightstalker
Well look at it this way.. the americans spend over 100 Billion a year on there military.. there technology is far more advanced then ours.. But there technology is also built by the lowest bidder.. they come up here for combined forces training in the winter and there weapons don't even work correctly.. ( I quote " What the wrong, I pull the trigger and nothing happens... - US Private. all the canadain C7s (Canadian version of the m16) all working prefectly. Plus the average canadian forces troop is trained just as well as a US special forces soilder.. (aside from some mental conditioning) When we have wargames against the united states we have a 6 to 1 kill ration on the ground and a 4 to 1 advantage in the air (if the inguagement ranges are limited to short range missles and machine guns).. Canada may not be as strong but we are FAR better then the US when it comes to quality of our soilders..

Some interesting facts

Average Grade Completed by US military soilders = grade 8
USA Sniper school (army) = 6 weeks
Canadian Sniper school = 6 months.

Time required to pass heavy armour driver training in the USA (Real Experiance non simulator) 35 Hrs..

Canadian = Simulator ? why the hell would we do that.. you can't get the tank stuck in a computer... it happens all the time out in the field you have to know how to avoid that kind of thing..

dogstar
i agree NS... my friend takes photographs for the training exercises, and he says the canadians kick ass every time.

i guess he was at a recent tank trials where our refurbed leopards ran rampant over the vaunted abrams, beat them something like 8 to 1 IIRC from third hand info.

our snipers were also the darlings of afghanistan....

Perhaps US has a "Gangsta" metality.. more power in numbers... But in true 'merican fashion, they don't care if those numbers are smart...
