If this truly is a tuning website why the hell to i get flak because i decide to pick a truck over a car i mean wtf seriously then my thread gets closed because your all jealous of the wages i make.
I am sorry but when did tuning mean specificaly ment cars you can make a truck go 10 seconds just as easily as a car.

Maybe 0 to a 100KM. the fastest truck i have every heard about is in Turbo And high performance mag. it was a 1990 Chevy short box with a V8 tiwn turbo it had 1 115HP and 905 lb/ft at 20 pis. and i think he was running around 10. nopt for sure tho. but also good luck to you. i don't think you will make a 10 sec. truck but good luck n e way. |

| actully if you really want a fast truck, pick up an 83 or 84 s-10, put a 350 in it, and put a nice 350 in it... not some piece of shit. And really if thats not enuff power supercharge it. Just make sure you get a tranny and rear to handle the power. I had one and it was fucking crazy. You couldnt get traction no matter where you were. |

If it were up to me I would extend a helping hand to Cobra_R and let him know how diverse the 780 club is and how bashing and return bashing goes nowheres.

I didn't even read all of Cobra_R's other thread. But based on this thread I can deduce the content (it's elementary dear watson) after reading some of his other posts earlier in the thread.
For Cobra_R,
1. If you make a whole lot of money (I'm not sure how much you make) and enough to afford the engine that you linked to, maybe you should think about paying for more than just your vehicle. Start putting some of your money away for school, or RRSP's, or get your dad to invest it for you or something. Take it from someone who didn't have a lot of money and wasted what little he had. If you make soooo much money, spend a little on having a good time (movies, the bar when you're old enough, getting chicks in the sack, etc). Save the majority of it or pay your way more than you are already. Again, I don't have enough information to make an informed opinion on this but you'd be better off spending $10,000 (minimum) on an engine and install, plus the $2000 for the built transmission plus install and $1000 or so for the rear end and gears that you would need to handle that kind of power somewhere else. Not to mention the $1500 or so you'd spend on tires to put the power to the pavement and matching fronts, and $800 for the brakes that you'd want to slow you down properly.
2. You seem to have a good heart, but you have to learn to take a stance and stand by it, or if you do change your opinion, state why. Don't come like a bat out of hell saying "It's my damn money and I'll spend it on whatever I want", and then say "my dad says I'm not allowed to have an import." If you really make as much money as you say you do, buy a crappy import (not bashing imports, but there are some crappy ones, and they're cheaper than nice ones) and move out on your own, away from your dad. Most likely you can't afford to move out on your own, so you also most likely don't have the money for a $6000 USD crate engine to drop into this truck, money for an education, or other real life expenses. You are young, and don't know the real cost of living, and the sooner you do, the better off you'll be. Also the chances are that if you're dad was able to influence your choice of car even though it is your money, he is paying for a lot of other stuff that he threatened to take away from you if you decided to buy an import.
For everyone else.
1. The title of this site is 780tuners.com. It's not V8less, and its not import780tuners.com. That being said, there is a division between manufacturer, and between import/domestic. There always will be, because everyone has their preferences. Despite the fact that I have nothing against imports, I've never owned one, but I'm not against having one. The majority of the people on this site have imports, because lets face it, they last longer than domestics on average, and with older vehicles you get lower prices. Out of all of the members on here, I would say 10% (roughly, and it's just a guess) actually have show quality cars (either highly modified cars less than 10 years old, or nicely preserved/restored cars older than 15 years). The rest of us (myself included) have relatively stock newer cars, or shit ass older cars (import and domestic). Not saying they're not nice for the age, but when someone with a 89 civic hatch with rust on the wheel wells covered by a fresh layer of paint because they can't afford to get it done properly and a B16A engine swap done ghetto style insults a stock 99 cavalier z24, you both have low end, crappy econobox cars, that are most likely well beyond prime condition. I'm not saying that you don't like your cars, but don't go bashing each other. For those of you with nice cars that bash others, have some class and take the high road.
Mike Nikolai (i hope I spelled that right, GOT BOOST) is the only member on here with any class. At some time or another I've seen most of the regular posters (including mods) bash someone, deserved or not. Some people are retards, and need chastizing, but the unrelenting shit kicking of someone who is 16 is uncalled for. Cobra_R is young, and we were all there at some point. I know I was full of piss and vinegar, misinformed about cars, with little to no knowledge about real world HP and torque and 1/4mile times. I remember claiming that I was going to build a lifted S10 4x4 with enough power to smoke show all four tires at once. STUPID, but I still claimed it. I'm 10 years older now, and I've picked up a lot of knowledge along they way. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts (I love that term) that I can guage the age of most "bashers" on here by the writing style of most of their comments within 2 years. Some of you know more at a younger age because your father, uncle or older brother is a mechanic or a tuner, but you will still gain more knowledge and real world experience as you grow older, and have a more realistic about the capabilities of engines and vehicles than me when you get to my age.
2. Trucks can be fast. Cobra_R denied wanting one, and then ended up choosing one, and then apparently bashed imports, which was a retarded move. This is not a truck site, however, I think that even if he hadn't claimed wanting an import, wanted a truck all along, and got one, didn't bash imports, I'm sure he still would have been flamed for wanting to tune a truck. And there are more appropriate forums for truck tuning than this one, especially for the mechanical knowledge that is shared between members in the tech sections. But if he wanted to be a member, and participate in Terry's Polls, or share his experience with photo radar in the Ask the Police forum, he should be welcomed. Don't flame him because he wants a truck. Help him out where you can because a lot of us have trucks as well as tuners, it is Alberta after all.
I have an SUV (87 full size GMC Jimmy), and I love it. It'll go places cars won't go and that I like to go, and if you've never experienced shooting water and mud 20 feet in the air as your rip through a mud pit then you don't know what you're missing. But i also like how fast cars can go, and I like working on vehicles in general. That is why I come here and to local 4wheeling sites. Some of you hate SUV's and say so everytime someone posts about SUV's. Your opinion, your right, but make sure you do it constructively. If you put 5000 Lbs with a center of gravity 18 inches higher than your 2600 lbs car, of course its going to roll easier. But I've never rolled any of my trucks, or SUV's, and I've seen rolled porches (spp again).
So stop with all the shit, and flame where neccesary, but be classy, and just correct misinformation if someone posts something that's incorrect. But if you are going correct someone, make sure that your information is correct, or I'm sure that someone else will rip you a new asshole.

| There's so much backlash because his first posts were how the GDL system was no good, and talked about trying to get around it by typing some asia town dmv guy to change his information or something. This lead to more arguements, infact I even defended his truck notions with the syclone and typhoon as stunning examples of what vehicles of that class can do. Needless to say, he has moments where he sticks his foot in his mouth. |

If I may be so bold as to interject on this thread. Congrats on purchasing your truck. It sounds like you have a lot of plans for it. Personally I hope you jack it up so that I will be able to see traffic under your truck while I am ridding low in my Supra. :lol:
Yes, you are correct this is a tuning website. To me it does not matter if one is tuning an import, a truck, or even a Pinto. Bottom line is people are here to gather, and share information. Some information is better than others.
I would just like to add some friendly advice which may help you out now or in the future. This is not meant to be a personal attack on you. I appologise in advance if it offends you. From reading your posts, and the replies from other people I have noticed one thing. This one thing is you need to be upfront and consistant with the info that you provide. I have read some really good posts by you, also some questionable ones. One needs to pick a side and stick with it, but still see where people are coming from. You went to a lover of trucks, and a hater of imports, to a hater of trucks, and a lover of imports and back. From the info I had gathered in your posts, it seems that you are respecting your fathers wishes and purchasing a truck. There is nothing wrong with admitting that you can not do something or are doing something out of respect. People will respect that. But to keep switching sides of a lover and a hater is not good. This will make one appear to be wishy washy and will not be respected. Granted there will always be jerks in life that will want to bash people at the drop of a hat and given any opprotunity.
I had also read Marks post as well. He had some good information in there that we can all benifit from. Some people get along with people easier than others. Some people have a heck of a hard time doing it.
I feel as long as one is respectfull to others, and does not BS, then you will earn respect.
As for the wages you make, Personally I do not care about anyones income on here. To me it makes no difference how I view and respect people. As Wubba_65 had put. If you have high earnings and living at home, it would be extremely wise of you to maximize your RRSP contributions and build a non registered portfolio. As this the years pass on you will become more successfull and powerfull. :D
