I don't know how many of you have read the thread about the fast and furious 2 release. Howver the v8less group is trying to setup a car show for that day at famous player in south edmonton common?!
Anyways, we'd all like to see the RX7 club come out with V8less and bring some of your coolest rides (meaning all of them, except mine since i no longer have it). The way we're trying to set it up is so theres always a group of the V8less crowd with the cars to protect them from any so called vandals that want to wreck out fun. There will be a group that will go see the early show and the late show and the opposite group will watch the cars with their counterparts are in the theater.... if you don't want to see the movie then so be it... afterwards we're planning a cruise, which would be great not only for v8less but for the edmonton rx7 club as it would give the club a great deal of exposure and possibly draw in some new money... I mean members :D
Here's a link to the thread so you Rx guys can read up on it if you haven't and try to pencil it into you day planner as tentative for now. I'll try and bring it up at the next meeting.

I am really torn about this topic as much as I might have liked the
first movie, the consequences of this type of movie are that we see
more and more high profile " fast and furious" type cars in accidents
which leads to a stigma being attached to "nice cars" and as a result
we get public pressure on politicians, which results in new stupid laws
which results in police harassment of anyone driving a "nice car"
kind of like what we seen at soda jerks.
Now don't get me wrong the cops are just doing their job and trying to
stop street racing, and if you've done nothing wrong, you would like
to think that you would be fine, and nothing would happen to you, but with
harassment like this come stupid tickets, I just hate the idea of going to
a meeting just to end up with the added expense of a stupid ticket.
If this is how I feel and I am 37 years old how do the 16 year old's feel
who I have no doubt get harassed more than I do.
Ok now before anyone says it I will say it my self,
I should have nothing to worry about because I don't have a nice car:)

From what I hear you've got a few nice cars..... and that 20B second gen. :D
You're right about the whole nice car, higher profile accidents, and harrasment.
I look at it this way. If the sport compact group in edmonton can come together and prove to these officers that want to harrass us, that we don't have anythign to hide, that we're mainly responsible and thus no reason to bother us.
Why not give it a try, just enjoy the event for what it is. If you aren't doing anything wrong they can't give you a ticket. We all know what we're expected to have on our cars and the laws we're supposed to obey... and you can still have a good time without worry.
Hopefully I'm making some sense...
Just come out and be part of the "good" team, help us prove to the city that we can have these nice, modded cars and not cause any trouble.... give it a shot! |

:( It's the wrong time of year to bring out nice cars! Most nice cars are sleeping or in pieces getting "nicer" or faster. Not that my car is nice...... it's just sort of quick and old! ;) I'm not sure who would be able to bring out a nice car. Trevor might; that's the only one I can think of. B)

The other thing you have to keep in mind is there could be 100 responsible guys out there and 1 DUMB-ASS. That one dumb-ass can screw things up for everyone else. It's shitty but true! :angry:

| meh whatever. Sure there could be that 1 dumb ass Karl, but remember there could be the other 100 huntin his ass down! i think you should bring the wagon out. haha its such a sleeper. so sweet. Man if i drove the thing i would drive super slow and then sit up real close to the steerin wheel like a keener :unsure: and then rev her up a bit beside some rice. hahaha just kill them. go flyin past them like a raped ape :blink: . hahaha.... your car is great karl.... :D :bigthumbup: |

If it's all back together I'll have the beast there. :D I've surprised more than a few people with it including; mustangs, corvettes, and other 80's Long Haired Banger junk. It's always fun! :bigthumbup:

One dumb jerk can wreck a great event for those other 100. I really hope it doesn't happen for this event. I'm hoping to get some media coverage for it and I don't want anything stupid to be caught on tape that they can air as us being a bunch of hooligans.
I think that you guys ought to just put your trust in the good of people. I think it will work out great.
Karl bring your wagon as it draws a lot of interest (such a cool car :))
Conroy bring out your ultra sleeper w/ the supercharger
The rest of you bring what you want
-The point is that this event is to be a group of people getting together for a good time, and I think with the media there there'll be very few problems. We'll always have people watching the cars and you can enjoy the movie too if you want. Then there'll be a cruise after that you're alll more than welcome to come on.
Oh and the show will be in June 6, 2003 for the premier of Fast and Furious 2 so not too soon, so guys dn't worry about rushing and putting cars together.... :D |
