To satisfy Talont's request, the racer's have spoken. 2/3 of racer's who have competed in the last two years are in favor of sanctioning body rules being adopted.

Thanks Pearly

I hate to burst your bubble but I doubt the IDRC is coming to Edmonton in the next 25 years.

Maybe if they invent the teleporter. And I doubt the organizers will change rules from black to white in one year.

Even the IDRC changes rules every other month, so simply saying a sanctioning body is required is a no brainer, maintaining the exact same set of rules over a long duration is gonna be the tough part.

 I just noticed that only 9 people voted....... 6 wanting rules and 3 who like gift certificates. I dont think we can reasonably assume much of anything from the pole. Oh well. -_-

RULES are only shunned by people who need to cheat to win!

According to the preceeding pole, only 14 people on this board have raced at the BOI or SCCC in the last two years.

Of those 14, 9 have voiced their opinion, with 2/3's in favor of sanctioning body rules. If you want to extrapolate from this pole, until the straggler's of the intial 14 vote, it equates to 9 of 14 wanting sanctioning rules. So that's 9 competitors, more than enough to fill a Street class, or have half fields in Street and Quick.

#1. With attitudes like this, you are right, our RACE scene will never evolve.

#2. As I posted in another thread, the SCCC bracket classes were eerily similar to the IDRC's, so the rules aren't going from black to white, they are just being applied to new classes which the racer's are demanding.

#3. The IDRC does not change rules every other month, they supplement the rules a little near the end of the race season, or correct errors they made in the initial rulebook. It's not like the classes cease to exist halfway through the season. We know "the exact same set of rules" will not work over a long duration, we are tryign to adopt the rules laid down by the largest/first import drag race sanctioning body, and any changes they make as they see fit.

Or those who want to create the rules so they can win.

I asked 4 of my buddies who came and raced at SCCC. NONE of them know anything about IDRC rules.

The SCCC V8less race caters to those who jsut want to race with fellow imports, not those out show who's king or get confused by rules or classes.

My thoughts exactly.

But if there are enough v8less people serious about WINNING and what the prizes and rules are, then maybe we need to schedule more events period. A couple "tournaments" to satisfy the competitive types, and a handful of import-only drag days, like the normal "Street Legals" format they have now.

As far as what direction best illustrates the opinions of the masses we have yet to see the masses vote.

Of the few people who voted I seriously doubt any more than two or three would make the minimum requirements for a quick class or the street class regardless.

The idea to have a simple unbiased pole to better gauge the opinions of the people who will be attending drag racing events in our community is only feasible if we have everyone’s input not just 9 people.

Ultimately a poll, which would gauge opinions from, racers, sponsors, organizers, and spectators where a large number of people voted would give us a much clearer picture. The options to vote on must also be unbiased and reflect what they would like to see. Each group would have a separate set of options in order to reflect accuracy (how many spectators know and understand the IDRC rules and possible effects of implementing them!)This would be a fairly large undertaking and at this time probable a waist due to the fact no one knows what in total the new rules for the 2003 IDRC are. A poll like this may in fact be better used for fine tuning once something is in place.

I think I have literally kicked the living shiit out of this subjects pro’s and con’s. The subject Has pretty much disintegrated into beating a dead horse, and until all the facts are made available, a greater voter base can be reached. And organizers (v8less, JB’s…) give us a rough draft to kick around what else is there to say?
We could just all have a  and chill!…lets vote on it

dogstar
if we are beating a dead horse... well, lets rename it 'paradigm shift' and switch gears by putting it up to a vote.

one question, "IRDC: YES OR NO"

for the record, i vote yes.

And who are the masses?

We had ~ 60 competitors at the last SCCC. There's no way you're going to get enough representation of "the masses" on this message board. The event was hosted by v8less, but obviously not everyone who turns out and competes in the event(s) are v8less.com users.

talont
your right!

Circle can't you do better than that as come back.

I'm not making rules , We would only like rules that are already in place everywhere else in the very success full import scene.

I'm glad you think that's why I'm trying to get rules up here.
It only clarifys the true loser you are.

:thefinger:

Like I said people who shun rules can't abide or win with them.

Maybe we should make a 20-22 sec 1/8 mile class for circle! :thefinger:

Markis lets have that bloody meeting already so we can hash this out and take a final vote.

Markis
Hi Roger.

There will be no "vote" at the meeting. The meeting is for input only.

The location is set. Please see the other post.
