Pole Position
New toys!! Released from A'PEXi Japan around December. Very exclusive.

Improvements over last version SAFC:

- Knocking monitor
- 12 point air flow setting instead of 8 point
- Air flow engine RPM can be set every 200 RPM instead of 500
- Password protected to avoid being stolen
- Warning settings
- Memory saved even when battary disconnected

There are other improvements as well that I haven't found out yet.

Very cool unit I must say. Same design as the RSM and size.

How much $$

Pole Position
Right now I sell them at $495 CAD + shipping + GST.

I might be able to start a group buy and lower the price even more.

That looks very sexy!!!!!!! Wish I could put one in my car. First the rev/speed meter with G - Sensor. :D

RallyCivic
Looks neat, I have seen these things around but never really figured out if I could use one. What sort of application is it for? What do you need to hook it up to your motor? Maybe I could use one for rally?

foudn soem info on the S-afc II for thsoe that are intrested. heres my copy and pasted info

The digital APEXi S-AFC II is a piggy-back fuel computer, which attaches to most any car. It is used to modify the factory compute signal in order to make adjustments for air/fuel ratios via enhancements through fuel adjustments.

The second-generation S-AFC is a fuel computer that adjusts fuel/air ratio by modifying the air-flow meter/MAP sensor signal. The S-AFC features a user-definable, eight-point, adjustable fuel curve that can be set in 200 RPM increments. The range of fuel adjustment is +/- 50% at each of the user-defined setting points. On hot-wire vehicles, the Deceleration Air Flow Correction function is capable of curing the erratic idle and stall problems associated with open-atmosphere blow-off valves on hot-wire air-flow meter systems. The S-AFC is capable of monitoring and replaying the following data channels in Numerical, Analog Meter and Graph displays: Intake Manifold Vacuum/Boost Pressure, Air Flow Capacity, Intake Manifold Pressure, Karmann Frequency, Engine RPM, Throttle Position, and Air Flow Correction %.

FEATURES:

At MONITORING MODE

*Knocking level display enables you to check if any detonation happening on the engine. This function is very useful to do ECU setting as well as to check engine condition.

*The unit can show 4 different information on its screen. You can select from Airflow signal, Intake Manifold Pressure, Throttle position signal, Engine rpm, Airflow signal offset %, Engine knocking level and Battery voltage.

*Display pattern can be selected from one of normal, analogue, digital analyzer or graphic.

*Each information on the screen can be played as real time, peak hold, replay or pause.

At SETTING, etc MODE

*You can adjust fuel setting at the range from -50% to +50% (every 1% unit) at 12 different engine rpm you set.

*The unit allows you to set two fuel setting patterns for wide throttle opening situation and narrow throttle opening situation.

*Engine anti-stall adjustment solves the engine stalling problem that is caused by blow off valves, etc...

*Warning function prevents your car from having engine trouble.

*Security function allows you to set pass word so the setting data cannot be changed accidentally.

*Even if the battery is disconnected, the unit keeps all the data in its memory.

*By-pass function allows airflow signal to by-pass S-AFC II, so you can use standard airflow signal temporarily.

definately soudns itnresting.....who wants to trade me an S-afc II for my current S-afc???? j/j

Just out of curiosity are your units grey market from Japan with no warranty?
Also are english directions included?

I have had trouble in the past getting mine fixed because it was a Japan unit not brought in through propper channels. ;)

I am very interested in this as i am building a custom set up on an 88 rx7 turbo and I think this might be one of the last pieces i need. I am useing upgraded turbo h-trim and bigger inj. 670cc instead of 550 also front mount intercooler and larger fuel pump. do you think the safc2 would be enough to work this motor?

I'm glad you asked. The SAFC II are supplied by our oversea supplier which is a A'PEXi Japan authorized dealer. Any products they supplied us comes with manufacturer's warranty. However, because A'PEXi USA hasn't release the SAFC II yet, there is no English instruction.

For your information, any aftermarket electronics including the SAFC II MUST be install by a certified techician. If not, warranty will be void immediately. A'PEXi electronics are very good as I haven't encounter any warranty claim so far. However, in the unlikely event, you can send the SAFC II back to me and I will exchange for another.

You're kidding, right? You mean any of us that installed our own turbo timers, boost controllers, etc. automatically violated our warranties and are SOL if we ever have problems with them? WTF?

I did my own install on my AVC-R, as I'm sure many others here have as well.

That seems like a ludicrous warranty condition. I do rememer the Apexi documentation "RECOMMENDING" that the install be done by a certified technician. Maybe I'll have to look at the fine print a little closer.

How many people have the luxury of knowing a trustworthy enough shop to mess with the electronics in their cars? I know of no shop that I'd trust my Z to for that, which is why I'd only attempt these kinds of installs myself, or with the help of knowledgable friends that I trust.

redbaron303
I don't know about any of the electronics for the car, like turbo timers and boost controllers.... but I know when I was looking at putting my stereo in the instructions/warranty books said it was void if I did it and it wasn't done by a "professional shop"

Pole Position
Okay maybe I shouldn't say ALL electronics, but I'm sure over 95% must require certified techs for install. Some manual will say RECOMMENDED, but I bet you will have a hard bet getting the warranty.

Hey I agreed with you that more than half the people do installs themselves, and does not let other people touch their cars. That's very resonable, because install can get very expensive.

However think about this way though. What if you are the company that manufacturer these electronics? Would you warranty the product due to installation error by someone who is not a tech?
