From a head to an engine B21a1 - Click HERE for Original Thread

So last week I posted for a new b21a1 head, well, so much for that the little ticking that I thought was sticky valve or sumthing related to the fuel injector cleaner I had recently put in so I thought I'd wait it out till the injector cleaner was out.

So I thought I would let it idle for a bit, well 3 hours later it had't even moved off the full mark, so I went to go pratice my manual tranny skills(1st manual) well it was going good and bout 45 min in it started to make noise, alot, and then it died, well to make a long and hectic story short I made it back home, the car died countless times pretty much everytime I pushed in the clutch to shift, I made it home but not without my car sounding like a hammer banging on steel.

So the next day I take off the oil pan only to find mere shards of steel at the bottom of the oil pan, well there was no more bearing whatsoever left on cylinder number 2 connecting rod, and there was play on all the others, kinda shocking at 221000km. So now im faced with a rebuild cuz I dont got the money for h22 swap. Tommorow or on wednesday I plan to pull the engine and see how much damage has been done. If possible does anyone have any tips for a rebuild on this engine?

thanks, peace

Your best bet for right now, would be go to car bashers or pick n pull, and get an engine out of a 3rd gen. shouldn't be very expensive, then you can keep saving for the H22, instead of rebuilding and wasting more money on parts...
just my 2 cents

2ndgenlude
agreed, but thats only if your sure the h22 swap is what you want to do down the road

mike3
it'll be pricey, unless you can find the mounts for the swap, i don't remember what brand they are, but they are discontinued, and hard to find.

I dont think I would do a h22 because its not the car I plan to stick with for a long time but for the next 1-2 years is what im planning on and I went to pick ur part the other day to get sum rocker arms and they had 2 88's but they got b20a5 and they were more km than mine so I dont know if I wanna trust an engine from pick ur part, I found a rebuild kit for sumthing like 450 (http://rpmrons.com/Hondakits1.html) so im hopen nuthen was damaged.

2ndgenlude
if your sticking with your B21, i say just rebuild it.

mike3
Unless you have the skills to rebuild an engine, and KNOW how, i would get it done profesionally so its done right, otherwise your more than likely going to start running into problems, plus once its apart, you myaswell do some performance mods to it, ie: high compression pistons, rods, headwork, and the list goes on, your probably going to end up paying more than 450 to get your engine rebuilt.

subzero420
Yeah I tottaly agree that itll cost more than 450 to rebuild it, and im not rebuilding it myself as yes I would run into problems. The pistons and rods is a good idea but I dont know where to find em, a simple search on google and ebay turned nuthen up

mike3
you should be able to go to a shop like mopac and they should be able to find most stuff.

k sounds good ill give them a try
