What are the laws about emissions?!
Is there anything that I should know about when modifying an engine so I don't get in trouble with emissions or any of that junk? |

If I am correct, there are no mandatory emission testing in AB (unlike in BC), so in theory your are OK. Unless, after the modifications, your car makes no see-thru exhaust cloud :D Then you are in trouble.

As far as I know the catalytic converter is the only requirement for emissions for two reasons, safety and pollutant control. The catalytic converter reduces the ability of the exhaust gases to further combust anymore upon removal from the vehicle's system, as well as removing some potent toxins. However, if you want to turn your exhaust pipe into a flame thrower, it can easily be done with the removal of the catalytic converter. Here's the instructions:
1) drill a hole (about the size of 1/4 inch) in the last inch of your tail pipe
2) screw in a spark plug which is wired to your car battery, and some kind of a circuit breaker mounted within driver's reach (i.e. push button, switch, etc.)
3) start up the car, step on it, and hit the switch!!!
DON'T EVER try it on the open road, some of these flames can shoot over 15 feet. As you probably can imagine, this is not exactly legal, so do it at your own risk. I will assume no liability or reponsibility for any injuries or deaths that may occur as a result of using this information.

| that seems like a good way to cook a muffler |

| haha spark plugs? meh you dont need spark plugs on an RX7 to throw flames!! just take out the cats and you got flamage by the gas pedal!! awww yess.... flames... to see the looks in the ricers face behind you when you torch his mosquito net grill  |

| The Flames for the RX-7 doesn necessarily work all the time. I had all my cats removed on my old RX-7 and there was no flamage. I forget now but I think it works better on a T2....... |

| what kinda muffs. did you have on your 7 Agent? It usually depends. |

| I say go straight pipes.. muflers just hold back the exhaust.. plus you can get a good flame thrower going with the right setup if you do it that way =) |

Cats arent required in BC (Atleast for my car).... however, if you arent running one, they will advise you to install one.
It sucks... because I am trying to pass my '76 Nova with a 327. I think some serious tuning will get me a pass....
If not, I'll buy some flanges, some cheapo cats. Take it to a cheap exhaust shop.... get them to weld the flanges to the cats and to the pipes that they are going to cut out.
So, when I have to go thru the emmisions test, I unbolt the pipe, and install the cat.. afterwards, unboltthe cat, and install the pipe....
Yes, its a lot of gaskets, but I Wont be running cats. |

| as for the flamethrower, I'm pretty sure the way ur supposed to do it involves a circiut breaker which cuts off spark to ur plugs and sends it aswell as all this fuel that didn't burn cuz of the loss of spark, to ur secondary plugs in the pipe makin a flame thrower. just the way I seen it done |
