so here's the 411. i drive a 88 shelby z that has 205kms i re-built the top end right after i got her, cut the muffler off, and opened the air box. she was running great, all boost levels (14psi)were good and my air /fuel was looking good aswell . my 1/4 mile time was 14.2 and traps were 103.76mphs and the g-tech was showing me #'s of 210hp and 255 ft/pds@ 3840rpm consistantly. then the trouble started the fuel pump started to go, so i replaced it, then the clutch went so i replaced it, and then the car started a wicked eletrical stutter after replaceing my ignition system. accel wires/ champion plugs/accel universal cap/ hall effect and distributor and months of searching for the cause, i found both sets(new accel wires/ and oldwires) of plug wires to be arcing. once the wires were replaced my car was once again running great(so i thought) i decied to move my battery to the back of my car recently, and i replaced the stock(cut open) air box for a 3in cold air system running right in front of my coolant resoviour beside my pcm/ecu(tank soon to be re-located and a hole cut in to provide air) and a 3in turbo pipe between my intercooler and throttle body and set my timing to 12 degrees .boost levels are still sitting @ 14 psi and my air fuel is reading the same richness(i feel safe with). SO HERES MY PROBLEM - the car seems fast but is only putting out times of 16.1 sec in the 1/4 mile with a trap of 85mph and the g-tech is consistantly sowing me #'s like 130 hp and 150 ft/pds@ 4954rpm. so where the hell did all my power go? i'm mean were not talking about a little power were talking 70 ponys and it's enough to make a grown man cry! so i've done my best to give you guys all the info and i'm hoping sombody can help track done all my power. i feel like i've just lost my best friend.
thanx - Ryan |

What does your but dyno say because g-tech is a POS.
All i understood is that you had problems replaced a bunch or crap and now g-tech says your slower??? |

| thanks a lot i'm not only timing my car with a g-tech. but thanks for your comment. i'm pretty sure the cars feeling really under powered or i don't think i'd be having a problem. the g-tech may not be accurate but it's a nice refrence point to use when tuning at home. |

Maybe you have a boost leak or something along those lines. Did you take any of the hoses/couplers off to do any of the work? Just recheck all of your connections.

Your obviosly know nothing about the G-tech or have any direct experience with it, your just going off of hearsay, your just another generic person saying its shit without actually using one and if you did it wasnt propperly.
I have the g-tech pro and it works great. |

| it could be the new coil pack.i had a budddy put one in and it only lasted a month bofore he lost power and his srt would boost over 5 and it turned out that the coil pack was burnt out on the 1 and 4 so he put the stock one back in and everything went back to normal |

| GOT BOOST |
Hi Ryan,
Sorry to hear of your loss of 70HP. The ignition of 12 degrees BTC is correct for the Shelby Z. As Rad had suggested, I would check for boost leaks in your system. The boost leaks will be more than likely around fittings, or even old cracked or deteriorated hoses. Also check for small things too like the proper gap in the plugs. Seeing as how you will be in there, check to make sure there is proper contact between the plug wires and the plugs. Is it possible that the distributor was put on incorrectly, or something went a miss in the replacement?
Because the Shelby Z came from the factory with an intercooler, check to see if the intercooler is damaged or still connected.
As it has been mentioned before, your ignition system that you have may not be working as well as it should.
Also try this. You mentioned that you installed a "3in turbo pipe between my intercooler and throttle body" Try to replace this with the factory one that you removed. You see, your car (turbo) needs to work harder to provide the accurate pressue and pressurize the intake system. I am not certain what the factory size of the turbo pipe between the intercooler and throttle body is. But you have all this pressurized air that is coming from your turbo to the intercooler, but when it leaves the intercooler this pressurized air is leaving a small and confined area and entering a larger pipe where the velocity of the gasses slow down as there is more area to fill and pressurize. Thus not effectively allowing more pressurized air to enter the engine via the throttle body. It is like blowing into a small straw. When you push the air out of your mouth and into the straw, there is alot of pressure in the straw and the flow of air is quite fast. Now, you attach a much larger straw to that same straw and blow on it, the velocity of the air changes as it enters the new larger straw. Therefore you are not receiving the same amount of airflow pressure at the end of the straw as you were in your previous experiment.
Try replacing the "3in turbo pipe between my intercooler and throttle body " with the old one and see if this fixes your issue?
Sorry for the long post.
