It's my understanding that whenever you paint your tailights you're reducing the light output of your oem tallights.
Anyone who's seen me car knows I'm guilty of this too.
I think within reason it is safe to do so provided you leave some areas at original brightness.
I could be wrong too :) |

| As long as the car still meats the SAE and DOT specifications you would be fine... I am not sure if that would though. DOT rulings are based on a rating that makes it so that tails have to have a certain light output and some have to have reflectors in them depending on model.. that tail light setup is likely a violation... but its just a fixa ticket =). Hopefully anyway.. make it look stock and most cops will just carry on there merry way.. |
