why don't some stores reveal prices? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Seks
Is there a good reason why when you call some stores they don't reveal the price of the item you are looking at buying? Usually they say come in and check out the prices.

Well, I don't have the time to drive around (and expensive gas to burn) and then finding out at the store that the item cost ridiculously more than other stores.

I guess for stores like that, I just avoid them like a plaque. It's just like dealing with stores in USA..they don't ship USPS regardless of the price, I won't buy.

I'll tell you what I really hate.... Stores that don't have the flippin' prices on the bin labels on the shelfs. Two stores immediately come to mind: NAPA and Bumper-to-Bumper. Drives me up the frickin' wall and I rarely buy from them because of that frustration. I hate having to grab every item I'm interested in and haul it up to the counter only to have to ask the guy to pull up prices on each item.

I want to know how much an item is before I commit to buying it. ARGH!!

they like to be able to talk to you....
if you feel comfortable with them and they handle you well..
you most likely go back even if they are a few bucks higher..

Well, they can talk to me over the phone...

A few places that I've talked to over 780(pm's) asked me to come in for a price. If you need to see what work needs to be done to give a proper quote than fine, but if its something self-explanatory or you are just looking for a specific part then you just lost my business.

they do that so incase other stores are secret shopping they accually have to wayste thier time and come into the stores.. why dont you check the flyer or accually go into the store?.. they do that to protect thier prices so that they think they are the cheepest..

a little driving never hurt.. until the gas prices went over a dollar:mad:

heh, thats so true. i went to canadian tire and someone tried to convince me to buy the wrong tierod end for my car(inner instead of outer) which costed $40. i went to NAPA, costs $20 and i had no idea wether it was inner or outer, they took their time and showed me. they are a few bucks more, but its worth it

i also bought an $8 keychain from canadian tire, they never had the price posted up, but i wanted the keychain. price came as a shocker though, why not just charge me $100 for it while your at it?

Mr.DC5
EZ never revealed the price, they always told me to come in and most times i just wasted my time because the price wasn't in my range.

BErettin's got the answer.
