Bottled additives? - Click HERE for Original Thread

A friend of mine of mine reccomended using Pensoil Injector Treatment. So I'm at CT staring at the huge wall of fuel and oil additives that promise everthing from fix leaks to adds HP, which leads me to ask:

Do you use a oil of fuel additive? What kind? And why?

REFLUX
Fuel additives, for the most part, are useless.

Injector cleaners don't clean your injectors enough, marginally but not enough to solve any problems.

Octane booster only boosts your octane 1 or 2 points (if that)

If you have a problem, these products are not going to solve it.
However if your running great and everyonce in a while you run some injector cleaner/combustion chamber cleaner/fuel system cleaner/ etc...... that can help KEEP everything in good clean working order.
Cheap octane boost's are not needed on most cars, especially if your not turbo'd or anything like that.
I have never seen or heard of a leak repair product that accually works.
Most oil aditives just make your oil thicker. Which can help it from burning off or dripping out, but reduce it's lubricating abilities.

I run a bottle of REDLINE fuel system/combustion chamber cleaner through my system every once and a while. Might not do anything, but I hope it will keep a 15 year old car running like it's brand new.

1 or 2 points mean 91.0 to 91.1 or 91.2.

Not two whoel octane ratings but two points of one

Just throw some ATF in the fuel tank every once in a while. After all thats all fuel injector cleaner is, ATF and some karosene.

If you want to clean your intakes and injectors I would suggest a motovac. It prolly costs say $100 but it sure helps alot on older engines. My buddy did his 350 in his truck it had 200k kms after the mtovac was done his engine became a monster filled with new life.

Motovac wont fix engine problems but it will make the intakes like new and will improve your injectors operation. This will help gas mileage aswell.

Terry you mean to tell me that when I popped in 6 bottles of Nitrous methane octane booster with mmt to 25 liters of 91 octane fuel I shoulda been sitting at about 100 octane? If so I ran my car on near 100 octane lol several times. My engine overheated quickly even during normal operating conditions.
There was a company in Wetaskiwin that made octane booster concentrate. It said it added 1-2 points per oz. added to 50 literes Ive put in up to 16oz. before what would that make?

In what car? Your GA?
That's only going to rob you of your NA power!!

When i was in ontairo the 91 is not as good as wht we get, dont know why. when i was experament with octaine boosters i found the ones that woork the best smell like race gas. other brands smelled like kero and varsol. two bottles minumin to stop some pinging i was getting.

for oil aditives that say they stop leaks, most of them have a chimical that swelles seals and cork gaskets. prolonging a replacement.

as far as injector cleaners, nothing works but a good old fashion injector flush. The mixture is too dilouted to make any diffrance.

Where can I get this stuff? My 95 Ford F150 has 260,000kms.

The gas isn't any different, it's the increased air density in Ontario.

400 ft diffrance from here to where i was, its the gas

Are you sure? The difference between Edmonton and Toronto is more than 2000ft.

I have a 20%-80% mix of lucas oil - oil stablizer and synthetic oil in the fifth right now, it claims to extent oil life by 50% or more, and to increase lubrication, etc, etc. It did boost my oil pressure as it claims. It's my first time running it.

It's the one you see in CT and most car part stores where they have the 2 sides with hand cranked gears. The lucas oil side does spin easier and the oil makes it further up the gears than on the regular oil.

We'll see how it goes.

I had a friend who used to run 2 bottles of gas line antifreeze with every tank year round, if he didn't use it for a tank he noticed a performance and milage difference.
