12's!!! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Adam
Some might not think its a big deal, but I sure do...I am one happy guy!!

I hit a 12.7@108 today at scc. Put down with the 2.4, completely stock motor, head and intake manifold.

Put the boost up till 10.5 psi and got my 12.

:D :D :D

SketchifisT
congrats, full interior or no?

Adam
back seat removed and trunk liner. not much weight taken out at all.

RS13
Woot

good show if you were in the streety class it would have been great.

Too bad you were in outlaw.

Good job spanking some domestic ass

newred
All thank mostly go to ur PIT CREW. But , good run:thumbup:

Supra_devil
good going

Well now i know of one neon i'll never be able to beat, lol.

Cody D
I heard you ran my buddy's Camaro in the Finals, when I phoned and asked how it went he said he ran a damn fast Neon.

Congratulations on the 12.

Adam
Yeah, it was a real close race, I really thought I had him. I couldnt have run it better though. I'm just happy it was competitive for us.

Yes Toby, a huge thanks to you, Chris and Ron for busting my balls all day!! :p

Hey, Cody...your bud has a video of the run, he said he would put it up but can yo make sure...I really want to see it.

Mr.DC5
congraturation!

Sure will.

NTM
I'm car #0112.
The slip on the right was the outlaw final.
I got "treed" badly, then proceeded to light the tires up in every single gear  .
I'm badly in need of drag radials, at least.

Kumho mx 295/35/18 rubber and no nitrous.

Hey, why the hell am I making excuses anyway ?

Good run Adam, doesn't get much closer than that  .
Your car is a sleeper from hell !

P.s. I'll put the vid up tommorow.

2003specv
That was an awesome race guys. And I also thought Adam had it with that great launch.

CanuckDave
congrats man!

ChromeDragon
Your Camaro has some amazing top end. Watching you reel Adam in was the highlight of the drag racing for me. Just a great race!

nis_mo
yes that was deffinatley one of the best races if not the best of the day!!

NTM
I was pretty sure I was screwed.

To be honest, I was sitting at the line thinking, just don't redlight, it's a neon, how fast could it be ? :D
Then he killed me on reaction time and had a good launch to boot, I was crapping myself !

SketchifisT
lol thats sounds awesome, im pissed my boss didn't let me have the friday or monday off to make it up this weekend :(

Adam
Yeah I get that "sleeper" tag quite a bit. No one expects it to be fast..:dunno:

I'm still smiling about the race...I was pumped.

Bigger and better things for next year, so be sure to come down. I want a grudge match!!

Sure, I too am up to some stuff this winter :D
Still, gonna bolt some drag radials on and run the nitrous before the end of this year, see if I can find a low 11, high 10.

Here's the vid, it's pretty wierd, this was my lowest et, but also one of my lowest trap speeds too. It's kind of a bad angle, hard to tell what's going on.

http://media.putfile.com/outlawfinal

SketchifisT
weird angle but still nice video, i like your ride a lot. and that is some nice top end to make up for the launch ( yeah you need some slicks :D )

blown_mr2
Mission accomplished for 2005 Adam, nice job!!

Can't wait to see what '06 has in store.

Ron@Revolution
Great race Adam glad I didn't miss it even thought my car couldn't compete I was glad to come down and help/support the green goblin!

Insomniac
Here is the video I caught. It was with my digicam, so I couldn't zoom the boards.

That finals was awesome.

Congratulations adam  you guys put on a hell of a show.

ChromeDragon
Oh yeah, and a big congrats to you Adam. Running 12.7 on 10psi is just wicked. I can't wait to see what you run next year!

Fate was against us... the 7 snapped a diff the night before, the Talon head was assembled with the wrong cam caps, and the STi chewed up it's clutch, I don't know what we did to anger the gods, but I intend on sacraficing a few mustangs and perhaps a certain boosted camaro ( :) ) to try to appease them.

The Skyline was out there but we haven't had a lot of time to come to grips with it. It's a bit of a hassle taking over someone else's project. We had some time to street tune it.. (with .. interesting results) but that's about it. We discovered late in the day that the misfiring and hesitation problems that we were fighting with all morning were the result of overheated coils. The coils in the RB-series engines seem to be located in a hot place. If you noticed the 'powered by Red Bull' segment of the Subracing SCC endeavor, that was us trying to cool the coils with the limited tools at our disposal (Being, whatever was at the Nisku gas station). It was running like a champ from then out but Jeff really hadn't had time to take any practice runs. If you catch the video where 3rd gear dropped out it looked like he was on his way to something 11ish.

There's always next year... We did have one class win in the form of Ted's nice STi in class C, nice driving Ted!.

Anyways I didn't mean to jack your thread here, good driving Adam, and I can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next year :)

Hustler M
When me and my buddy rolled in we saw the green neon with slicks and chuckled. But man your car is fast. Congrats on the 12 second run! Why did they put you in the outlaw class?

Oh man, that is a close race, he's just got a little bit more on the top end.

Can't Stop Spin
yeah I know, I was just hoping that I could hold him off till the end, but he just had too much top end in 4th for me to do that

newred
Supra just out power you. But you did pretty good...

Can't Stop Spin
well what do you expect when the supra dyno'd 375whp (according to the driver) to my tiny 274???

Supra_devil
375!!

wow, doesn't have much done to it then.
i got a ride in a mk4 with a little work done, pulls hard through to 4th gear in the ride i got. don't know what his runs or puts down though, but they are fast.

S O
Adam, you're car is sweet. I saw it in the pits with the tires sticking out and thought to myself "What the hell is this car running?" Now I know and I'll never laugh at a sea foam green car again.

all he said was intake and exhaust. I don't know enough about Supra's to know if that adds up or not, either way, it was the best/closest race I've ever had at budpark.

Supra_devil
ya intake and exhaust frees up quite a bit on them, with bpu on those things people can push over 400hp.

similar mods to the one i got a rid in, and it pulled almost as hard in 4th as it did in second, it was cool, lol.

now to make my car do that......

Adam,

Congratulations on breaking into the 12's with your car. Also, nice work on a great light and a huge holeshot in the final.

since you know so much about it, tell me how a reaction time is gonna affect his ET? Answer? It doesn't.

Just like it doesn't matter who has the fastest ET.

All that matters is who breaks the beams first at the 1320.

Yup,see the post above.

I was just out there seeing what kind of times I could get on street tires, I wasn't overly concerned with what was going on in the next lane.
I was having fun, matters little to me if I beat anyone or not :) .

Drag radials go on next week and the nitrous gets armed, easily in the 11s, probably low 11s, maybe high 10s if I'm lucky.
It may break the rear end though.

Zazam
Props Adam!

My buddy told me "some 1st Gen Neon ran a 12.7." When I heard that I knew right away that was your ass! :p

That's funny, when I was told "NTM" was almost beat by an older style Neon, the first thing I said was "Is it green?".

Adam
Yeah the car is getting known around town. I was going to paint it this year finally but I'm thinking I might want to keep it green.

Praylewd powr
I have to say Congrats Adam! You sure kicked my ass so I am gonna have to step it up for next year.

You can't paint the car either.....it is notorious now!

What is the wieght on your car? And what type of dyno did you run on?

NTM
Not sure on the weight Ron, it's been through another round of weight reduction since I last weighed it. I'm guessing 3600-3650 with me in the car.
I ran on a dynojet on friday night actually, it made somewhere around 530-540rwhp and 550ft/lbs.
I made a few timing changes at the track that seemed to have a very positive effect as well.
The timeslips don't contain too much useful information due to me being on and off the throttle and shifting at different points when it would blow the tires off.

congrats adam your car is scary fast lol.

as for that supra i think it has 387, or somewhere in that neighbourhood of horsepower and ran a 13.000 i believe. which is pretty good for intake and exhaust.

What were you doing at something called V8less? A class that allows V8's to run at a sport compact car only meet is silly. Don't the V8 guys have enough days for themselves?

Personally, I welcome the V8 competition, but under the condition that they are _street_ cars only. Trailer queens can come out to test and tune nights.

I think V8's are a great idea as long as they are street cars but I think making Adam run against them just because they he has slicks isn't right. No offence to Adam but put drag radials on a car trapping 123Mph and he is going to be in the low 11's for sure. That said short of making up another class I'm not sure what to do with a car like Adam's wich is a street car but runs slicks at the track. I think Markis and the guys were just trying to get rid of the gutted race cars out of the class.

They put Rob's Daytona with slicks and a stripped interior in Exhibition. I don't see the difference between Adam's and Rob's cars from a classification point of view.

Ron@Revolution
Well from what I heard Rob was running 2 power adders, and fully stripped interior, and slicks. That should be an outlaw class car in my opinion not a exhibition class car.

A street car on slicks is no longer a street car, IMHO, and I think outlaw is the place for them. If someone doesn't want to be run in outlaw they could always put on drag radials. How the 100 footer association separates makes sense I think, I could find a brochure and list their class criteria. It basically goes by car + 'power adders' and I think it makes for as fair of a class system as you're going to get.

DomesticKilla
The question is do you think if the V8 guys had a V8 only drag racing day that they would let any 4 bangers in their outlaw class? I doubt it.

Saturday was the only day I could make it to the track, and I enjoyed coming out and checking out some nice cars.

I'm an enthusiast of any type of fast car, I could care less how many cylinders it has.

And it's not like I was racing against the sport compacts, I was just out to see what my car would run. That was my first time at the track.
Hell, I was on street tires :dunno: .

Agreed, with all points made.

Rob should have been in outlaw.
The more V8 street cars the better.

The outlaw class should be what it implies...outlaw...

"run what ya brung" is the saying isnt it?

95IntegraRS
Damn rights. Good racing, thats what we came for... the only people complaining are the people whos cars are way too slow to compete and they are all butt hurt about it.

NTM
I do like the fact that they were all street cars though, even in outlaw.
I can't stand trailer queens.

DomesticKilla
If he can't control the power he has, maybe he should lower the boost, what's the point of having such big power if you can't handle it. He obviously can't handle his car, maybe he needs to practice more. I bet you money that he's trying to add more power still and he hasn't addressed traction or braking yet, that's the wrong way to go at racing... congratulations on being a dyno queen.

As for why I wasn't at V8less, things break, what can you do.

Just joined 3 days ago and talking trash....if you read NTM's posts he said he wanted to see what he could do on street tires...then he said he'll go back with DR's.

with all the trash I think you need to justify your statements with some slips or what kind of car you have or something that says that you are faster than NTM...which is 12.1@12x MPH.

If not then I suggest you take your 7 posts and join another forum.

Thanks

I'll believe it when I see it, DR's over 600hp and a stock rear end, that should be interesting.

I do run faster than 12.1 @ 12Xmph.
