I got an older Astroflex Rs-102 remote car starter with a 3 button one way remote today from pick n pull.
My question is: does anyone here have experience with Asterflex starters? how well do they perform? is the range any good? their company website is pretty useless for technical info, luckily there's a really good installation/pinout diagram on the back. I salvaged the harnesses and a fair bit or wire on each, so if it's any good, ill install it in my subaru for the winter :) . Maybe somebody on here has the installation manual that they can scan for me so that I can see if there's some extra info on the outputs such as pos/neg details for the doorlocks, and programming the features.
thanks,

| Last winter I bought a 93 Explorer for a winter beater. It was missing the remote but still had a Astroflex brain installed. I bought a remote from JB's for $60 for it, reprogrammed it. The range sucks, sometimes you can't even use it if your standing too close to the vehicle, the buttons are slow(they have to make this stupid chirp for half a second before the function does anything). It'll work thats all I have to say, but they're not great. |

| i actually installed those bad boys when they were new. they are a good starter, but after time if the antenna solders get a little corroded, they range sux. new they had a about 500ft, but if the antenna is screwed or remote is worn, it'll drop below about a hundred ft. i'd say buy a new one, because a remote starter is not that much money, the installation is what stores make money on. |
