ok me and my room mate each have like 2500 songs on our computers and we are connected via a wireless internet connection. anyawys i'm wondering if there is a way that we can transfer our songs to eachother in some sort of method rather than over msn messenger.
any thoughts?
p.s. he has an ipod, i don't, would i be able to hook it up to my comp and throw his songs on my comp? |

The Ipod would work...
If you both have XP pro one of you could type \\othercomputername or IP\c$ then it'll prompt for a user/pass put the other comps user/pass in then you have full access to the other computer's C: and you can copy and paste files all ya want. |

try sharing the hard drives from "my computer" .right-click on the hard drives, to get to the sharing screen.
over a wireless network, it's gonna take hours to copy all those songs... it might be faster to just connect the IPOD and bring the files on sneakernet, than over the wireless.
it might also be worth getting some cable and running a wired netowrk even, for temporary if you both have the ports for that. that brings the time down to mere minutes.
[stroke] or you can get a gigabit switch and cards like me for both comps, and transer the files in mere seconds GIGABIT ON COPPER IS THE OWNAGE!!!!11

If both computers have gigabit cards, all you need is a cat5e crossed patch cable, no switch required.
Or my fav method.. pull the HDD out of one machine, put in the second as a slave and copy everything locally. |

for gigabit ethernet cards n stuff, MD-X became part fo the specification, so cross-wired and straight wired are auto-correcting, and a thing of the past.
if you gotta ask... you probably better leave the hard drive in the computer where it's safe :fingersx: |

router ,share files 'drag an drop
that easy
i do it all the time with two pc s on a network and just share files and search for medea on both
you hav to screw around a bit to get it to work but once you get it working its just to easy. |
