shift cables again - Click HERE for Original Thread

2ndgenlude
fuckin shift cables went on me on st.albert trail on the way to work again. i have no idea what is wrong. they shouldn't snap ever, let alone 2 sets within a month. im not sure if these snapped or not but shifter just lost feel and i was stuck in 4th.

bearinalude
could it be because ur tranny swap wasn't done to perfection?? jus wondering....

2ndgenlude
could be. i have no idea. its eating shift cables. if work finds out they were installed/adjusted wrong there buying me a new set. im just pissed off. hopefully there ok. i can't think of what would do it though.

bearinalude
yeah dat's gotta suck, hehe think but swapping to a manual did give u like 25% more hp right?? i have an auto and it suffers lags:(

1_Bar
sorry to hear. Maybe you have a problem with the gates of the tranny since you snapped 2, its most likely your tranny.

Does the fourth gen have the bracket at the end, where the cables hook up to the tranny?? In 5g ludes, there is a bracket that you bolt in to help keep everything straight and not move around so much.....

i don't usually haha. but i was at the track for SCC. its fixed now. cables didn't snap, just a clip came off of one and threw everything out. cost 40 bux to fix.
probably loosened at the track.

newaccorddriver
atleast its a cheap fix compared to getting them to replace it. i dont think the clips should come off at all:dunno:

i think you should buy an auto conversion

It was good to see you out racing though. Next time, you should autocross and use that honda for what it was made to do.

1_Bar
that's good to hear they didn't snap again......

2ndgenlude

Bryan,

I'll de doing my swap hopefully next year at STRD in Calgary. They quoted me like $1000 if I provide ALL the parts... Give them a call and talk to either Pat or Will.

heckmatic
Cool, thanks a lot guys. I might actually be able to afford that this winter. How long was your car out of commission?

Hey Tyler, did you price out how much brand new cables would have cost you?

mike3
I think i remember him saying they cost $400 or $450. He has a few threads about shift cables, check them i guess.
