repainting the front bumper? - Click HERE for Original Thread

~30oZ~
Hey guys,

I was planning to paint my current front bumper due to the amount of scrapes it has on the very bottom and rock chips on the front, but was wondering for the bumpy type texture that's around the whole car how will they paint this on the front? What I'm trying to say is the bumpy stuff has been scraped off and was wondering if the body shop can do anything to fix that?

I hope you guys understand what I'm saying lol:)

The bumpy stuff you are referring to is commonly known as "Rock Guard". Rock Guard helps avoid rock chips.

Most body shops can repair the rock guard.

hmmm ok cool, any idea how they would go about fixing the rock guard? If they can't do it right, i would rather buy a new oem bumper.

Yeah, I believe it's like a spray on application. Kind of like how they spray on the "orange peel" on the ceiling drywall on houses.

yeah i checked it ouy today, do you think it would be cheaper just to but a new one and paint that bumper from scratch...to fix the bumper they said it would be about $6-700 mark...seems a little high.

thanks for the help:thumbup:

Like I mentioned in your other thread, I do have my original oem TT fascia for sale, if you decide to go that route.

wouldn't it cost more money for the shop to strip away all of the black paint then paint it red as were they would just paint an unpainted bumper without all the work off repainting thus being cheaper for me? (If they do charge extra for the removal of the black paint, it would work out the same I'm guessing) Is your front bumper next to mint condition? Like you rear panel was ;)

I'll keep you in mind Jason:thumbup: BTW how much would you sell it to me for?
