Hi Everone,
I thought you may find this of interest. The phone number for the Edmonton Police Complaint line is 423-4567.
Reason why I am posting this is due to my experience this evening. It seems that every irresponsible tool whom drives a truck is out on the road this evening.
I had just finished enjoying a meal at Boston Pizza (South Edmonton Common). I had left the parking lot and turned right on to 103 or 102st. The light was Red at 23rd ave and there was not much room to move. I was entering the left hand lane. The back end of my car was sticking maybe a foot into the right hand lane. Some tool in this beat up Black Dodge truck had decided to gun it towards the back end of my Avalon and intentionally miss me by inches, he then swerved into traffic and forced somone out to make the left hand turn onto 23 Ave. I let this go as I thought he is just a moron. The light turns Green and a few seconds later anoter primate in a black beat up ford truck came ripping by me (I was in the turning lane furthest from the left curb. We are moving slowly and this bozo squaked his tires and decided to pass me on the right missing my drivers side mirror by inches. Again thinking he is a moron and I will let him go. I watch him cut off other vehicles by inches and almost cause multiple collisions. We catch up later in traffic by the railway crossing and he is sitting there reving his engine and squaking his tires for no reason. Again I am thinking "What a tool" and laughing. We proceed onto Calgary Trail and I watch him execute the most unsafe, suicidal and reckless driving manouvers I have ever seen. By this point am getting annoyed with his zig zagging accross traffic, pointless lane changes and almost causing a collision with each one. After watching him almost wipe out 20 cars in a matter of 30 seconds I figure it is time to get his plate. I accelerate, pull up to him on the right, grab his plate and drop back all with out him noticing what I had done.
I proceed to the Police Station on 28Ave near Grey Nun's Hospital (nice station by the way) After having a great and very helpfull conversation with the officer there, she had informed me that I could have called the Complaint line and they could have dispatched a car to intercept this maniac! After I gave a description of the vehicle, and the plate, she told me she was going to call this guy and call and give him a talking to. I left a very satisfied man. The only thing that would have made it better would have been if I had called the complaint line, followed this guy and watch him get pulled over. :D
I thought I would send along this info so that it may help anyone else out when they see someone driving recklessly and could use some divine influence.
I just wanted to thank the EPS for another great job done in your thankless roles. :D

So did they catch him......:dunno:
I called there once b4. Was walking downtown and saw some punch ass kids throwing whatever they could find onto the road. It was a foggy night and they where drunk enough that they didnt notice me. I saw a car turn a corner and hit a paperbox they had put onto the road going like 30km. The guy stopped and saw me. Thinking it was me he was going to kick my ass, but i told him i was following the guys who did this and if he wanted, he could go over and beat the shit out of them.
15 min B4 that happened I called the police and told them of my location and of these kids and what they where doing and an hour later I get a call from some cop who got the call and was wondering if i was still folowing them....I told him that I was home in bed and gave up waiting for them to arive. I followed them for a good hour b4 this.....nice!! go cops go...and this was downtown edmonton....where cops love to hang out....I guess it wasnt close enough to timmys
I felt like a good citizen too, till I realized it did nothing! |

Hi Silvia s 13,
I do not know if they caught him or not. The officer told me she was going to call him and have a nice chat with him. I just left satisified that I had done my part. Even if he gets a call, hopefully that will be enough to wake him up and smarten him up. All they can do is call him. I did not give the Police my name. It would be my word against his (the driver) as they did not witness it first hand. Next time I can call the complaint line and have them catch the person in the act. :D
The Police may have tried to locate them and were not able to find them. Hence the phonce call an hour later. Did you provide them a description of the vehicle and plates? Sometimes they can be tied up and need to prioritize responses. Mind you someone driving drunk a should be a very high priority.
Sorry to hear it did not work out well for you.

I would assume having a license plate & vehicle description would've made the difference between GOT BOOST's experience & silvia s13's.
 for the complaint line info Mike :) |

Hi Rob,
According to the 1st page on the White Pages the number is listed as "NON-EMERGENCY CALLS...(Dispatch) "Report of suspicious activity; Calls for Assistance; Advice; etc. So to answer your question I would think that would be a yes. :D However I thought I would share that info in the event it may come in handy for some people, or in the event some people did not know about it. I did not know that number could be called for reckless drivers on the road untill today. :D
Terry, No worries. Always a pleasure to be of assistance. Hopefully it helps some people out. :D
Newaccorddriver, I had negected to mention on my wat to BP's there was a young kid in a White Chevy pick up on 51st Ave that had his hat in the "unlocked position" roll down his window and shout at me to race then peel off and blow through a yeild sign on Calgary Trail South and almost smoke a car. As for the race, no I did not as I can not be bothered to street race. I call the hat which the brim is pointing over the ears in an "unlocked position" The hat indicates the brain is not engaged. When the hat is in the "locked" position (Brim over the face) This indicates that the brain is engaged.

From having my ears glued to the police scanner, I can say these phone calls are a great help to police. Cell phones are making it VERY easy for cops to track down dangerous or drunk drivers.
You would be surprised how many impaired driving comlaints they get in Strathcona County. They almost always catch the vehicle too. |

I normally call 411 and ask for Police distpatch - non emergancy and Roger's connects me... But if I had the number stores in the phone it would be better.
One time an ass in a Ford Suv almost caused a 8 car pileup by passing coming into edmonton right before the divided highway starts up on 97st.. and how.. I followed him down 167th.. some how got infront of him.. and then I got the description of the driver while waiting to turn left into the new cop shop on 50th.. and I made sure he saw me turning in :P |

I've called that line afew times. Sure not a quick responce.
My best experience was I went out to my truck to grab something cause I'm heading out, go back in my house for like 5 minutes, get back to my truck and some moron has parked at the end of my driveway. WTF is with some drivers. Acording to the eps I couldn't just call a tow truck. They said they would be right there. I lived abou 1 km from a cop shop. After going door to door for about an hour I finally found the owner. No offence but she was true white trash. ( I grew up in a trailer park, and she would bring down the value.) She was just plain stupid to talk to. She didn't understand the big deal, she was more mad she had to move her shitbag. How did she get her licence? Either way. Bylaw finnaly showed up about an hour or so later. What a joke that was. |

lol, you just made my day.
That number is the general number, called it lots of time for noise issues with drunken idiot neighbours at our last place (the cops never came) and at least once to report the EPS for causing accidents (they didn't like that one though).
I think I'll put that number on my cell's speed dial so the next time I come across some EPS running laser and jumping out into traffic I can call it in as reckless endangerment (saw another cop almost get smoked when he jumped out into traffic on 97th earlier this week). :( |

Both good and Bad,
Get this;
Its 2am on a Tuesday, my entire household is sleeping. Sound asleep i was woken up by a few loud THUMP THUMP THUMPS. I thought someone was breaking in my car. Grab my Nightstick, walk into the kitchen to look at my car from the window. No one there. Goto the frount of my house, look outside - theres about 5 kids infront of my house jumping around on someones car. Pounding out the trunk screaming god only knows what. At this time my parents get up like wtf is going on. They join me watching these morons, pop the trunk, pull out a fucken beer bong, start getting wasted infrount my of house on a weekday. Alittle time pass's by, finally someone called the cops (neabours) Cops pull up, you can hear him say " WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING - We got a complaint saying you guys are fighting" The kids say NO we are all freinds." ( fat ass cop still in his car ) Cop says, go find somewhere else to hang out. Kids say yep whatever. Canned Beer bottles all over the road. I dont know how he didnt see em, but as hes pulling away with his window down still. CRRRRUNCHHH runs over a beer can, echos around the whole neabourhood. Stops On top of the can. And drives away... LOL!
I find this fucken funny because the cops are SO fucken anal about drinking and driving YET, this dick wad. didnt ask for id, didnt run the plates.. didnt inspect the car, didnt STOP WHEN he ran over a beer can!!!
me and my parents were so fucken amazed on just HOW lazy thoes fuckers are.
Disturbing the peace
Drinking in Public..
Drinking and Driving
Maybe Stolden Car?
Warrants out of there arrest?
Beer BOng in the car
Littering
God only knows what other laws they were breaking.
Id have to say, Hats off you thoes who have had good experinces with the cops. Me, Never, always half ass jobs, giving me tickets for stupid shit. The EPS is a gong show.. :asshole: s

I wouldn't call it ratting... its my civic duty to make sure that some random cop doesn't get flattened by a pickup when they jump out into rush hour traffic to try and flag down a guy who is going 5km over the speed limit. ;) |

Well a while back I was driving North on 97st, just crossing the Yellow head, left lane, well 2nd left lane as the far left was a turning lane.
There was a cruiser sitting in line waiting to make a left, there was a bus infront of me, I saw the cop cut out from the turning lane(to head west on 127ave), right in front of the bus, the bus nailled his brakes, full frontal dive going on, like somebody hit the lower button. I was a good distance behind the bus and I had to nail my brakes as well..
Well I pulled out from behind the bus caught up to the cop doing 50(it's 60 there) got the car number and that it was a tactical unit. Followed him a bit to see if he had a reason for darting out and cutting off the bus. Nope he sauntered his way up to 137ave and turned left there. So I turned right, and went to the cop shop that was on 66st and 137ave.
I explained what he did, not signals, no cherries, nothing, just boom in front of the bus he went.
They asked what I wanted done, I said, just remind him to use his signals and shoulder checks. They said ok... so I went on my way... 3 days later I had a tail, a cop followed me all the way to work. Next day a cruiser followed me for 5-7km, turn off, a block later another cruiser..then a repeat, few km, new cruiser(or same one, I dunno, but the cruiser would turn off then I'd have another one on my ass a block later) all the way to work. I'd say coincedence, except it happened every day for a total of 2 weeks.
So I got rid of the car, and got a truck.. well 3 weeks later I had a cop on my ass, and he pulled me over for suspision of speeding or some BS.. he was still in the BPs parking lot on 101ave and 118th at the traffic circle.. and he said I was speeding round the circle. BS, even if I was, he couldn't see me.
Anyhow.. they nailed me for everything possible, even I didn't have a plate light.. well the truck didn't have one from factory. it cost me $1300 to get my truck back 2 days later and they took my plate, so I had to go get a new plate.
When they towed it they didn't tell me they where towing it til it was up on the truck, obviously I caught on when the truck showed up. But they had me get out after it was up.
I was freshly out of back surgery. well somewhat, and I was told to walk to work, for which I was now late. The p\ulled me over at about 11:45pm finally let me go, without my truck at about 1:15am, Plus I had to walk from 111ave and 101st to 103st and 100ave, normally not an issue, but Like I said recent back sergury and I had a shit load of stuff to carry, as well as a laptop.. through that neighbour hood... well over my Doctor recommended weight limit. |

i dont race or anything, i just go up to the speed limit and then stay there. i only go there fast cause alot of the times theres alot of traffic behind me. people get behind me, only to figure out that im not going anywhere past the speed limit:lol: .
this guy in a pick up truck was pretty much 1 foot away from me and honking his horn telling me to go faster. then this semitruck gets beside us and goes the same speed we're going(70km/h). we pretty much blocked the truck in. the guy didnt seem happy when he got out. i was laughing at him when he turned his head to 'see whos driving that slow'
the hat thing... ITS GOLD  |

SilverNeon, that's bullshit, no way the cops have the right to do that.. You should have reported it as harrasment...
I wonder how they got your plate number so they could intimidate you anyways. Did they trace your phone call? Or did you give them your name? |

Give me a break, the Sun is such a joke, sensationalism coming out of their ears. |
