sport compact car 10 commandments - Click HERE for Original Thread

beatshack
this is just a joke, don't take it seriously:

sport compact car 10 commandments:

1. thou shalt not have 8 or more cylinders
2. thy car shalt not weigh more than 3000 lbs
3. thou shalt not put unnessasary light on thy car
4. thou shalt not rice out thy eclipse
5. thou shalt turbo thy honda b-series swap
6. thou shalt not spend thy last $2000 on dragon-samurai-type-RFL front lip
7. thou shalt not desire a louder blow-off valve
8. thou shalt not "powerslide" out of control
9. thou shalt drift
10. thou shalt not reply to this thread.

:D please don't flame me.. its the beer:beer:

BOO! You need to revise your list :p

lilweiner
he said sport compact car.... so i dont think the GTR fits under that... i think sport compact cars are, sunfire,cavalier,crx... those type.. a few of the best cars ever made .... supra/GTR/ are well over 3000 lbs.

oldraven
Line two, 'thou' should be 'thy'. ;) How many 'driftable' SC's are there under 3000lbs?

come on, you can easily get your car under 3000! i think just taking the seats out would do it for an R32 GTR

i know 3000 is a little strict... heheah

well was it a joke?

as for cars under 3000 pounds and driftable...

mr2,rx7,240/silvia/180,trueno/levin,miata,

those all just came to mind and theres plenty more.

beatshack
i think generally the only "drift" sc cars over 3000lbs are v/straight 6's (300zx, r32, soarer, bimmers) etc

REFLUX
some points are funny, others are kind of :limpwrist

I looked up FD's, and they were just under.

qualthar
Haha cool! My post drove this thread waay off topic!

I bet if I stripped the whole interior I could shave a couple hundred pounds.. A stock GTR weighs in at just over 1500kg. I'd like to know the exact weight, but haven't had a chance to put it on the weigh scale yet :p

Either way, I know my car isn't a 'sport compact' but I'll still sleep well at night knowing this :D

Really? It shouldnt even with full interior and such unless it was a vert....

You also could of had some crap in the back to make it way that extra 13 pounds lol....

Anyways this is shity argument because most drift cars have stripped interior and gone through weight reduction anyway so...

redNA:
yeah it's just a bit over the 3k mark
I guess it's from the leather interior & power everything (it even has headlight washers, what for...no idea)
I was surprised the first time I saw it on the doorjam sticker...

I guess in an effort to stay on topic:
The list is more of a "Racer's 10 Commandments" rather than Sport Compact

beatshack
yeah its just a joke list anyway.. i wasn't serious.. hehehe funny how long the thread went so far :D

speaking on the topic of weights, anyone know the curb weight of my car? (1990 Talon TSi FWD)... edmunds.com says its 2650 lbs.. but some DSM guys tell me its heavier... i know the AWD's are heavier, and the 92 to 94 1g's are also heavier in general..

DomesticKilla
Your car definately doesn't weigh 2650lbs, try more like 3200lbs. The AWD you're looking at even more, then add leather seats and you are pushing 3500lbs.

If you don't believe me take your car out to the Semi weigh scales, I'll put 10 bucks on it.

SilverNeonRacer
Sport compact with 8 cylinder's??? DAMN.. If I gutted my Interior... and did as much weight redux as possibly my fifth could be a sport compact. Right now she's 3800lbs and a 318 V8, but heavily insolated, full pillowtop leather interior.. by switching to light fron seats and gutting every trim piece in the "cabin" that'll save like 300lbs :P

I think a second Gen neon is 2800lbs(1400kg) and I first gen is like 2500lbs or something.

Your car lists curb weight on the doorjam sticker? Most just list GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight), which is the maximum rated weight of the car full of passengers and luggage.

beatshack
yeah i think you guys are getting the gross vehicle weight mixed up with the curb weight.. the manual that comes with the car lists gross vehicle weight..

i double checked, and yes my car weighs 2650 lbs.. the non turbo model of my car weights 2594 lbs. (with a bit of gasoline, no spare tire or seats)

P.S. DomesticKilla you owe me 10 bucks... see you at the next meet :p
