Tint and Detailing - Click HERE for Original Thread

Spicerocket
Is tinting still cool? Where is a good place to go?
What about Detailing (Power Polish), what do guys think
of Ming Shine, I've used them before and it was a nice job.
I also need a custom install for some PIAA fog lights.

KAOS41
Pro Tint did a good job on my g/f caviler they did 3 windows for $150 I think that is pretty much what the going rate is.

ManHunter
Pro Tint did a good job on my car too. Are they still in business?

I recomend European Auto Tinting, they do awesome work.

SlowAzzPorsche911T
Euro Auto Tinting my back window when every other whiny lazy tinter wouldn't even touch it... so go there.. good job and reasonable rates :D

redbaron303
What kind of rates? 5 windows.... back two side triangle windows, and two drivers/ pass. doors..... ?!

Spicerocket
Thanks guys :P , Phat Racing has a special right now, 3 windows for $120.
I might check them out , has anyone ever used them before. If not I'll check out
Pro & Euro.

redbaron303
djshortys just had his windows done there... supposed to be real nice... I've seen come window tint done from them and it's pretty awesome!

SilverZ24
Protint is really good IMO. They have done 4 of my personal vehicles plus at least a dozen or more of my friends cars/trucks. They are still in business, just they moved to just off of Calgary Trail sounth instead of Calgary Trail north (Gateway Blvd).

For detailing, I have personally gone to Wizard Works a few times and Dave is really awesome at detailing. He actually races at Budpark with some muscle car and he details the RC's car or the Edmonton Police one, I can't remember exactly either. Last year he was also the official detailer for the Budwieser Semi.

As for Ming, my boss just had his 2002 S500 done there on Monday because he is selling it and they seem to have done a nice job. Although he did pay them $360 for a car that was in mint condition anyway...

ManHunter
Well, I think when it comes to Window tint, you won't know if they did a good job or not when you get your car back. It's 4-5 years later that you'll know, if your tint has bubbles all over or if it still looks like new.

I had my tint done 4 years ago by Pro Tint, and there is still not 1 bubble anywhere, it still looks like I got it done yesterday.

About detailing, I was not going to mention WizardWorks (which are probably the best detailers in town) because they do really serious stuff, mostly preparing cars for shows. It's also by appointment only.

Dave will be going over my car before it's shipped to World Of Wheels.

Right on , I'll have to do some price checking. My car is'nt quite ready for shows so
I'll have to do it reasonably cheap. Where and when is World of Wheels?
thx for all the specs.

dogstar
european also gets my vote, my brother had both his cars tinted there, and the thunderbird turbocoupe still has nice tint, running around with its third owner since my brother sold it 5 years ago.

RX_AGENT
Funny, my dad got recommended to wizard works when he bought his intrepid,
and they did a pretty good job, but there was just too many scratches for Dave to take care of. Looked good tho when it first came out. He charged 200 bucks for the whole car.

chowder
You want detailing done. Goto Auto Details. I go there and I've invested lots into my RSX from those guys. Talk to Desmond Ross.

ManHunter
I've heard good things about Auto Detail too.

chowder
DC5AB already have a club thing with Auto Details. The next time I go in. I'm gonna talk to Desmond Ross to see if he's willing to give V8Less the same or near the same deal as the RSX guys do. Eric, you'll probably like it the most I believe.

SlowAzzPorsche911T
auto details......... is there any other noteable detialing biz around?

Nightstalker
spicerocket.. your car is basically brand new is it not ? why do you need a detail all ready ?

WookeysRX7
hey hey! I am gettin tint on the RX7 on saturday! damn back window is so big they have to charge me extra! oh well i am still gettin tint!! SWEET!

Nightstalker
Andy sure got tint.. its looks like someone took black spray paint to the inside of the windows at night.. its SWEET

SlowAzzPorsche911T
Wookeys... don't let em give you that "it's too big gotta charge extra b.s" ziebart did the back window of my jaguar with no complaining and did a damn fine job... HUGE back window in that thing!

WookeysRX7
well i have an appointment at Phat performance to get it done. And Andy said they ahd a deal goin for $120 for 3 windows so i was like sweet, and then he said he had to charge extra because of the back window size, and also, andy said there might be a line in my back window cause its so big that they may have to use 2 strips of tint, true? where should i go to get it done right and good with a garuntee?@!

WookeysRX7
*BUMP*

redbaron303
I'll call Pat and see where he got his done.... He's in the Rx7 club and had his windows tinted and they look awesome.... I think even Ziebart uses a double strip on a window as big as yours.....

GroundZeroTalon
Eric at phat just did mine and its a really awesome job i'd recomend him

WookeysRX7
Well shit! I had my windows done at Phat on Saturday. The driver window was cut way to short so there like an accending gap of normal and tinted window that goes to about 1/2 inch!!! The passenger window has a chunk missing up near the front by the mirror. Both windows are bubbled to shit as you can tell from the outside. The back window is missing a chunk but Eric said it was cause he couldn't go over it cause of some welding splatter?!? I was like wtf?1 How the hell would welding splatter(whatever that shit is called) get inside my backwindow? so he took a permanent marker and tried to cover it up! What the hell is up with this?! He said i have a life time warranty but is it worth it to take my car back and get the windows re-done or should I just get my money back and go somewhere else? I dont mean to flame or bitch about Eric and Phat, and i'm sure he's done some good shit, but my experience so far isn't a pretty one! Write back and tell me what you think?>!

redbaron303
Chad... it's not Eric, it's that uselessly large back window of yours..... they were just tired after spending soooooooooo much time trying to do that one.... hahaha!

Seriously, if there's warranty, try getting them done again. If they screw up a second time on your car then take it somewhere else and get your money back... but I dn't think Eric gives money back, they have "no exchange/refund" policy posted on the wall....

WookeysRX7
Well, i have seen lots of other cars with bigass windows that dont have bubbles! Dammit i Hope he does a good job this time! I am gonna call him right now and make an apointment! :fingersx:

FuriousD
European Auto Tint had no troubles doing my back window of the RX7. They did a one piece job too. Really good work. Also did my cousins Saturn which is by concave, one of the hardest windows. And turned out great. I'd highly recommend them.
