Somebody complained about my driving!!!!WTF - Click HERE for Original Thread

Here's the story:
Monday morining like 7am I'm comming into the city on manning drive heading south, comming up to 137th ave. AS the left turning lanes open up I notice the guy in the jeep liberty in front of me does one of those "half swerve I dont know where the fuck I'm going" kinda moves, so I pay him no mind, drop it in second and mildy rip down the left turning lanes cause they're long and nobody was in them, a little iressponsible but no big deal, I never went over 80, and the speed limit just droped to 70.

So I go to petro canada, fill up, and when I come out. This short old prick walks up to me and says: " Hey buddy...Is that your little car?" here I am thinking he's gonna compliment me on my clean litle crx, so I say "yeah thats my car" and smile, then he says " You need to learn how to drive, you drive crazy and reckless" So I freak out.... cause I remember this is the guy in the blue liberty that's obvioulsy fucking lost. So off I go swearing this guy off in front of the petro canada at 7am, everybody is starring at me. this guy was clearly trying to intimidate or some shit and that really made me upset. I was walking towards this guy swearing him off, and he just hops in his jeep and drives away.

Was what I did really that reckless??? I didn't think so, but maybe I'm wrong, I get pissed just like everyone else, when sombody swerves like a jack ass in traffic, whether there in a car truck minivan whatever. But a second gear pull with no trafic around???? when the speed limit just went from 80 to 70??? Maybe that was stupid, I dunno. Having this honda is kinda retarded though in the sense that it has no torque, and if I ever feel like taking a few go fast hits off the old honda crack pipe, I have to have the car over 4500rpm, and it has to be in a different gear than 1st, where as with all the turbo cars I owned, I could just let the boost build, suck me back in my seat a little than shift, no big deal.
I haven't got a speeding ticket in two years, I must be doing something right, or I'm just lucky.

I have been guilty of doing the 2nd gear blast as well. :(

I normally save those for on-ramps etc. I avoid doing those things if anyone is beside me...... It is to easy to startle someone.

I know the area you are talking about. It is quite open........

But next time if you feel the urge make sure you don't fly by anyone.

YOu probably didn't need to go off the deep end on the old guy but those are just anger management issues. :D

You'd have gotten the finger from me. This is no different than guys pulling out aroundyou before they get to the broken line or using the merge on the Whitemud at Terwillegar as a passing lane. It's a turning lane, so if you're not turning, you stay out of it. He was totally justified.

Breaking the rules of the road is one thing, but not the code of the road.

If you had read what I said I didn't get in the turning lane before I was suposed too, the guy in the liberty got in late though obviously, or went through the lights and then turned into to petro canada. I don't get into turning lanes as you described because everybody in this city is retarded and always gets in the turning lanes once they're half way gone, and I dont feel like being cut off or side swiped.

misunderstanding.

Transporter
and for people who use the turning lane to pass on whitemud and 51 ave turn off the 51ave turning lane happens aroudnthe bend if eveyone would do the speed limit there would no reason to us ethe turning lane but people bottle neck it up there and for what just casue the road has a bend

i somethimes use the turning lane go straight up the ramp and down the other side pass like 30cars taht way with out even speeding

right lane is for slow drives and left lane for fast but in this city

middle lane is slow
left lane is lil quicker and the right lane is for faster cars

but if people drove they way they are supposed to and leave left lane open for passing there wouldn't be a issue

I don't know the area where that happened, but I know that I'm guilty of accelerating to get by some inattentive shmuck who can't figure out whether they are answering their phone, changing the radio station, reaching for their coffee, or simply making a conscious decision to prove by example that they should have their license revoked...

....and I'm fairly sure that (on occasion) I've probably raised the attention level of one or two of those aforementioned shmucks, but I would liken that to waking up a person who is asleep behind the wheel.

You should have pulled the gas nozzle out of your car, held it kinda nonchanlant at your side, pulled a lighter out of your pocket and simply said "Fuck off!"

Ok. I thought you said you passed someone by using the turning lane.

Maybe you should talk to somebody spec v, I dont see the humor in endangering peoples lives... just kidding, if that guy had gotten in my face, I would have "ken Shamrocked" him. It' not like this guy was polite, it was more like he was trying to start a fight, and he didn't look like he would have been able to defend himself very well.

You know what else pisses me off, on the highway when two peopl drive side by side.. Did everybody forget the left lane is for passing????? I cut some guy off in a grand am a couple weeks ago, cause he was clearly speeding up and slowing down so I couldn't pass the guy in front of me, he and his passenger were looking and laughing and shit, so I cut that faulker off real bad, I seen him and his boyfriend just freaking out in my rear view, than we got to some lights and started mouthing off to each other and that was that, he knew what he was doing, he can kiss my ass. I called that guy and his pass. more names than you can shake a stick at.

I get so agitated sometimes when I'm driving. I need to chill out.

ahahaa I think ive probobly seen you in traffic and tried to fuck around with you..... its the car man thats all it is.

SketchifisT
Nah what you did wasn't reckless if there was no one on coming. Yes if theres traffic comin towards you, but ive seen worse stuff then that happen and its part of drivin. I saw a cop just today go over the Soild line to pass some idiot who was takin up 1.5 lanes to make a right hand turn. If theres no one comin go ahead, just dont get upset if you get caught or anything ( im totally on your side so dont worry )

Meh ive had same issue i passed a guy even tho he was doin 50km/hr and the speed limit was 50 he was lost or just not doin a very good job drivin, gettin on the brakes at weird spots and so forth so i just popped it into 2nd and first time the road was wide enuff i gunned it passed him, figurin it would be easier for him anyways if he is lost to drive with no one behind him ( its 10pm no one on the road ) Road is wide enuff to house 4 lanes but its 2 , anyways he tails me all the way home and confronts me. I just didn't even bother to listen just nodded my head dont even know what he said really.

some people just get upset about it. Just leave it be next time, apologize and say sorry i just thought that you were havin problems understand that you have to drive straight in the lane and just get in your car and walk away.

The problem with Edmonton is that most of the people here drive like it's their first time in the city - slow and oblivious to other drivers. I find that if you are also slow and oblivious, then you fit right in and can safely navigate the city.

However, if you are a faster and more alert driver, even though you're a better driver, you don't fit in well the rest of traffic and cause more stress for yourself and the people around you.

Case in point. I tend to change lanes fairly fast. Some people here think I'm cutting them off because there aren't 98 car lengths between us, but hey, I've signalled, they know I'm moving over, no accident, no problem. In fact, I used to get pissed off when people cut in front of me, but then I realized that hey, kudos to that guy for getting in front cuz I wasn't on the ball. It's only fair. This is how it works in most big cities across North America and it works just fine. Most Edmonton drivers just haven't reached that level of road maturity yet.

Case in point number two. In most big cities, the left lane is for going faster, the right lane is for going slower. Most of the time, people in big cities adhere to this unwritten rule. If not, you can always flash your brights at them, and they'll move over for you. No big deal. Here in Edmonton, half the drivers here don't care what lane they're in, and most of the drivers will think you're being rude by flashing your hibeams.

LOL i love people like that! its so fun just to get in a bitch scene being loud and carrying on. it happens alot around here so i guess i am used to it now.

Next time just throw it back a gear, roll down your window, give 'em the big ol' finger and with a grin on your face. Two birds with one stone.
