Preventing windows from fogging up. - Click HERE for Original Thread

Specifically the inside of the windows.

Anybody have any hints/products/ideas/misc thoughts?

besides blasting hot air on defrost....

try that anti-fog that scuba divers use on the inside of their masks? :D (spit is my antifog, but it's not so practical for a car window)

Your defrost should work, unless you're a very heavy mouth breather, in which case crack a window. If your heater core is starting to leak it will make the problem worse when you turn on the defrost, pay attention to if you smell coolant when it's on.

I was at partsource (Fort road) and I seen a bottle of Rain-X that prevents inside window fogging. I have never used the product but i hear good things about it.

Good suggestion, I've used Fog-X on my windows before with varying degrees of success.
I found that you need to have air circulating the car for the Fog-X to work well.
If you park it & close all windows, the warm air trapped inside condenses like crazy & the Fog-X can't hold up to that.

Yeah if the air is on recirculate your car will fog up like crazy.

Supra_devil
make sure your car doesn't have lots of moisture stuck in the carpet from rain or snow, etc. make sure there isn't a leaking seal on a window.

moisture more than anything else will fog up your windows. other than that, make sure you have good air flow and good heat. if not, clean where the air comes from, may be clogged with leaves, etc. could be a vent not hooked up properly and leaking under your dash instead of defogging like it should.

sparkycivic
make sure that you avoid getting lots of snow in the cowl intake and that it's clear of ice cover. my EK civic would actually blow snow crystals right onto the dash if it wasn't warmed up yet, and i was brushing the snow off the roof onto the hood and into the cowl. dont ever drive with the recirculate turned on in the winter. you'll fog up instantly- and you dont' get any warmer by doing it like that anyways!!!

I have asked a few friends and they have also said the same thing. "Rain-X cant keep up with massive fogging" ^-^

Hi the_fornicator,

Asides from refraining from having sex inside the car there are a few options avaliable.

You could always roll down the windows a crack to let the fresh air in while driving.

Try setting the air recurlate button/switch to fresh air.

If you have A/C in the car, turn the A/C on. This will clear up the windows in no time. The heat can still be on while the A/C is on. It will still have the same effect.

If all that fails, just carry a towel with you to wipe the fog and moisture off.

Hope this helps,

Mike Nikolai
