There's a guy in our club that has a set. I'm not sure exactly which ones. But Phillips and Catz are a couple companies I can think of off the top of my head that make kits (or did).
BTW, those HID retrofit kits are illegal to be sold in the US now AFAIK. Not sure about Canada.
Do you need them for the high beams as well? LOL.. that's up to you. Who says you *need* HIDs at all?
(anyway I think most that have bothered just do the low beams) |

Yeah, I think it is mostly for the coolness factor that people go HID. Really, the aren't any brighter according to many studies that I have read. In fact, one study did tests of many factory vehicles with and without HIDs. Apparently, the Mazda Protege/Protege5/MSP had the best headlights (non-HID of course) as the light went the furthest distance. HID equipped cars didn't even come close.
Don't forget that you need a full HID kit and not just the bulb. The kit comes with a ballast that is required. |

Guys,
HID's are way brighter than anything OEM. If you buy a really good set of HID's they are brighter than the OEM HID's on most cars.
This one place to get them:

In my 1992 I have a set of McCullogh's, they are for off road use only. I was told simmilar lights used at stuff like the Dakkar Rally.
Cheers, |

I read some bad things about McCullogh's HID's on 300zxclub.com how do you like them? I would like to hear what you have to say about them:thumbup: |

| I put in Silverstars. For about $70 for all four, they light up the road quite nicely. I think HID is a bit overrated. There is lots of bulbs out there that perform very close to each HID at nowhere near the cost. |

I have had absolutely no problems with them. They are amazingly bright and cover the entire road. They do one thing that is a little odd though. When it is cooler out they take just a second longer to warm up.
I am not to worried about it, I think it's the nature of the beast.

Nope...just the straight swap. Very happy with the results. Besides, why blind people? I know when I drive up to people with high beams on I'll flash them first. If they don't get the clue, I just light 'em up. Let their retinas get a suntan too. |
