Euro Cars report in! - Click HERE for Original Thread

JustinL
Hi, my name is Justin.

I currently have 3 european cars.

1988 Porsche 944 turbo S Silver rose edition.
1987 Porsche 944 Guards red on tan leather.
1982 BMW 320i Turbo.

I'm a boostoholic.

SaabKraft
i'm craig.

1985 900 turbo 16V

unless i can find better parts sources, i may part it out for the greater good of the crumbling classic 900 empire.

our maker hath forsaken us. the 900's are tearing their own kin apart to prolong their demise.

i started this project 5 years too late.

anyone selling a Mk II GTI or a corrado VR6? :(

SilverZ24
I'm Calvin and I have an 03 BMW 320i.

Kind of gutless but the car is still great to drive and my wife insisted that I buy a 4 door. :D

Oh, and since it is slow anyway, it is riding on some big ass dubs so it looks good while it is going slow.

*Edit* Thought I'd add in a picture.

Well then don't sell your BMW (unless you plan on buying another one ;) ) and start posting more in here. :D

motorwerks
 good point. I am not planning on buying another one. I just can't afford to pay for repairs on the bmw. But I promise my car after this one will be a bmw. I fell in love with them too hard to not get another one. :)

SilverZ24
I know what you mean. After only a few weeks of owning my 3 series I started thinking I will never buy another brand of car. lol Granted that is if I can afford it. :)

97lude
Thought I would check in, 02 C32 here.

motorwerks
Yeah, man... this bmw has been an incredible first car for me. I doubt I'll find another car I like so much until I get my M3!!:D Anyone got 60 K they want to lend me? Interest free?:fingersx:

heres a pic of the beauty

Black Jack
Nice one. Theres so few decent condition e30s around.

b_w.
i need a new engine for my e30. anybody know a place i could get one locally? it is an 86 325e.

motorwerks
I might know of an engine for your car. I'll ask my friend.

I have a turbo m10 engine if you are interested.

b_w.

which motor is the m 10? i am only familiar with the e36.

JustinL
Its the 4 cylinder from the 2002, e21, and e30 318i. It's probably more trouble than it's worth to get running in a later car though.

b_w.
^^ yeah your prob right. i was hoping it was an e30 325is motor but i think that is an m30:dunno: i do not want any thing performance because this is my winter beater and i am builder a turbo 328 for performance. it just has not been bad enough yet here for me to get going searching for an engine really hard yet.

Transporter
hey guys rahul here
well now that i ahve started working on my jetta i started looking for place to talk about it and get info and tips

and found this page did not even know it was tehre

well hey from, me and my 1990 jetta turbo diesel injected

motorwerks
hey Rahul. Thats sweet. Gotta love the TDI! They are great cars. Is it a project car or what?

Transporter
well this project only goal is to see half million km

right now she at 401000km (just over)

and she running stronger now than she did back at 395xxx km when i bought her in may 05

this what i have done so far

in order when there were done

installed jvc deck
made my own air intake out of rx7 parts
replaced door handles with chinese mk3 handles
made my own shifter boot cover (soccer trip guy puked in it)
installed mk3 fog lamps (got lazy and only wired up one)

installed ride side mirror
installed parking brake cable

new starter
new water pump
new v belts
new timing belts

and now new alternator
so mainly sticking with relaibility mods just to make sure it runs smooth.

oh and don't call it TDI guys @ VW wortex gave me so much grief casue i called it tdi turbo diesel injected but actuallty tdi means turbo direct injection.
I have TD turbo diesel (indirect injection)

still don't know the diffrence in the two types

SilverZ24
The newer tdi's spray the fuel directly into the combustion chamber rather than before in the older models like yours. Basically just more efficient.

Good luck with the car.

HeavyEarly87T
Hey,
Not to be a bother but I was hoping some one could tell me if they know if a 85-90 Saab 9000 that might be available for parts. There was one listed for sale but I don't need a running one and will not spend $1,000 for it.

Any help will be apreciated. :fingersx:

rage_rman
Have you checked Jonny G's? I think they changed there name but they have a shit load of SAAbs

HeavyEarly87T
Thanks I will.

JustinL
Another place you might be able to find Saab parts is "four star auto" on Calgary trail.

Gerhard
Hi guys. Thought I would check in on this hugely successful and super busy forum!
I dont see Volvo under the EURO banner though i believe it probably should be ....
Current rides in the house:

00. 2005 GIANT TCR Composite 1 daily rider
1. '01 GTi nicely tuned as a daily driver for me
2. '04 Volvo XC90 T6 kid mobile
3. 19?? 4RUNNER tetanus mobile for winter!

Do you guys have any meets sometimes? E town doesn't seem to be very heavy "into" meets though a lot of EURO's around

seevik
well i bought my dads 97 jetta, but its totally stock now so no pics

speedster9110
Good to see an active topic on the Euro Form......

I'm Scott and My wife and I drive:

2005 Mini Cooper
1989 Bentley Turbo R
1988 BMW 320I
1978 Porsche 924

& Other Cars Waiting for my attention/ time..........

Justin, Did you ever work a speedzone Go-karts?? There was a justin I worked with there who was running a '44 he bought from Lanny (of Eurasia Fame) and his dad ran a 930... YOU??

JustinL
Not me... but that sounds awefully close. I used to work at fastrack gokarts about 6 years ago. I bought my red 944 in the states and the fastest car my dad ever owned was a turbo corvair (also rear engined turbo like the 930).

speedster9110
so here is a pic of the best "car find" I have experienced

Black Jack

Whats the story behind this car and your find?

2ndgenlude
i have a volvo xc90 t6 awd in the garage. does that count :p

speedster9110
Of course a Volvo counts. is that the new body style Cross Country ? what a great car, we had one for a weekend once... damn fast to (in a stealth sort of way)

So the story...

I was on holiday and started talking to what seemed to be a VW guy... typical bench racing stuff.. when he says "would you like to see my collection" well we go to see it, I damn near fell over! The Muira was certainly the centerpiece, though he had not ran it in many years.

... It always pays to talk to a car guy!!!

2ndgenlude
no, its the SUV with the twin turbo v6.
keeps pretty much dead even with my prelude (h22)
not bad for a family suv haha. we used to own a s70 t5 which was a blast. i would buy another one in a minute.

Clem

let me know

my e30 is pictures on page 2 i believe

speedster9110
PM me with your contact info and I should be able to help with suspension etc.....
what the heck heres a pic of my car

fugumerkur
ah rolls royce!!! bently, same thing! actually a bently is fashionable to be drivin in, but a rolls is to be driven!

I used to have to work on them. I have pics as proof too.! bad engineering but cool cars. just watch the gear shifter on the column, its easy to bump it with the car running if you ever had to get out of the car! (replaced doors and rear bumpers cause of that on some guys Rolls numerous times!)

coolest rolls I worked on was a newer bently R it was Daniel Steeles husbands car (this of course was when I lived in california) the turbo was massive!

Chrenan here, drive a 1980 924, list of modifications is in my signature below. Any good euro car meetings in Edmonton? All I ever see here is muscle cars.

Gerhard
Was there a VW meet this past weekend?? Drove by TOYS R US on the west end and noted something to that effect - had no time to stop in and since we were driving the Volvo I didnt think we would be too welcome either....;)

Nice and clean 924....

I had a 79' 5 speed .......way back in the day.

speedster9110
when was back in the day?

I ran a 79 indian red 5 speed 924 in 1993-94 before I picked up a '44S2. Funny thing is some 14 years later I have a '24 in the garage that is days away from paint.

Congrats on the nice '24, they truly are one of best Porsches in terms of value and fun.

Back in 87'

Great little car. Balanced/nimble and so easy to work on.

Swapping the clutch on that was a dream compared to swapping the clutch on the turbo.

chrenan
Wow, thanks for the warm welcome guys! Nice to know there are a few other 924 lovers around besides me. I did a total rebuild of the engine over the winter with a few upgrades, the car certainly comes alive with a little extra power. Would love to eventually upgrade to an S2, Turbo or maybe 968 but I'm not sure any of them would tolerate my ham-fisted mechanical skills like the 924.
