| Is there any way to tell if your exhaust will be too loud and if I run the risk of being ticketed? Is there really a way to measure it or will it be solely based on the judgment/temperment of the issuing officer? There seems to be alot of ways to fight it now how do we prevent it with out sacrificing performance? |

Officially it's 82db @ x distance from the car when the car is doing 60km/h, BUT since most cruiser's aren't equiped and it's hard to do the proper test.. yes it is up to the officer's discretion.
BTW for motorbikes it's 84db(2/3rds more as loud considering 3db is twice as loud) |

| If you think it's too loud - it most likely is. |

According the reg's as i posted above, they're aloud to be louder. almost twice as loud and it's legal. |

Comparing yourself to others when you get pulled over and stating that police officers aren't doing their jobs right will just create a mood of disrespect between you and the officer. |

On a ZX2? Don't run open headers, and stay away from fart cans and you'll be fine.
That being said, if an officer wants to nail you for something the noise charge is purely at his discretion so he can issue the ticket regardless of how loud the car is. |

But if it's stock or near stock you have a good chance of fighting it. |

| Like I said I'm leaning toward preventing it not fighting it. So what exactly qualifies as a fart can? I'm looking at a 2-1/4" trubenz or a magnaflow. not too sure what I should watch out for. |

I have a 2.25"(inlet and outlet) oval borla on my 318, lower rumble, straight through flow, well almost, slight zig due to center in side out. But cops don't even give me a second glance.. could work for you. Much lower restriction compared to a magnaflow.
It's about 14" long, 4-5" high and I think 7-9" wide. |

The noise law is stupid. Its so incomplete hence why bikes/trucks can be loud and cars cant.
I wouldnt argue with a fuzz tho they become arrogant so quick and then over do punishments look for more crap.
Heres a personal experience thing.
If a cop cant take that then they should be a bouncer. But yes they get rapist strickt when called pigs. I did this when I was 15 and got kicked out of a police staion cus of it. The scenario leading to it was not pleasant cus I was physically abused by a security guard (hit in the head) then told its ok by cops/pigs cus harassment is'nt illegal in Alberta. So Me and my other 15 year old friend met up with him after his shift.
Hmmmm wonder if the security guard thought that after getting thumped after work that night? Well when the fuzz questioned me and my friend we just said he attacked us as we went to get his mother from there he got in our way so we herrrased him with a few clocks upside the head :)
We never seriously hurt him but made the 40 yr old guard think twice before hurting a kid again cis kids learn from what they see and us kids saw that we have to hit harder than him.... Plain and simple if you get hit/punched/kicked in alberta just simply punch/hit/kick harder and you win :)
We did just that and went through a couple a months of crap to put that into the heads of authorities. Dont hit minors unless they got a weapon. Think about it mr 260lbs guy with ham fists 2 120lbs kids bitch beat you. |

| If you have a loud exhaust, but drive it carefully and watch when and where you push the pedal. I drove for a year on an amplified straight pipe, no prob. |

There are stories of people with a fancy car with a stock shiny exhaust system that have gotten tickets. If it looks anymore clean than this:
Be on the edge when a cop is behind you :D |

3" APEXi N1 full exhaust system running from the downpipe w/ the N1 muffler with a 4.5" tip, never been bothered myself either, yet. But when I had a honda, I was pulled over 3 times but never ticketed with a huge ractive muffler. |
