Anybody have a Carfax Account? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Ajit Nakhwa
Looking into buying a winter car.

Was wondering if someone has a Carfax account instead of me purchasing one. If so, would u mind running a VIN for me? Thanks.

Tifosi
The thing to keep in mind for Carfax is that it doesn't tell you if there are any liens on a vehicle, so you'll end up having to go to a registry and get a vehicle history report done there anyways, in which case the extra money spent on the Carfax report is a waste, unless the car is from out of Alberta.

I would be doing a lien serach regardless.

Right, so what I'm saying is go to a registry first, if the car has never left Alberta (continuous registration here) then you have no need to spend the money on a Carfax report. You'll learn all you need to know through an Alberta history report and a mechanical inspection.

In my opinion, a Carfax report is only really useful if the vehicle has been outside the province, because the registry report won't show any activity outside Alberta.

Just my two cents.

Also, I'm only really posting because I'm bored at work. I could care less how much you spend finding out about your winter beater haha.

Good point. But if the car is like $1000, then doinga mechnical makes me think twice.

I'd get an inspection done, especially on a car that old. You never know what you'll get. Just find a mechanic and buy him a 6-pack to give it a quick once over. Beer is the universal currency amongst mechanics.

Thanks Ravinder

No problem, Nakhwa. I could use some beer too. It'd help kill the time at work. Posting messages to make fun of you only killed so much time.

Damn, I didn't think you were bright enough to figure it out. And you have no idea how bored I am haha.

Also, that Accord really was gay. Not as gay as you, but gay nonetheless.

I was a pimp in that Accord.....and still am a pimp in my deuce!

If you say so.

But seriously, get Hemi to check the car out. A car that old will always have some problems, so you wanna be aware of them.
