quick question about windshield tinting - Click HERE for Original Thread

street_racer101
i was talking to some guys from work, and people have been telling me that windshield tinting is illegal. obviously. however, somebody said that if you get a doctors note, stating that you have sensitive skin, sensitive eyes, or anything like that, that yes you can get the windshield tinted and side windows also. normally i don't second think these kind of topics but this one seems to make sense...

...why would you even want to tint your windsheild? i have 20% on my front windows and driving down the highway at night i can't even look out those...tinting the windsheild would just be stupid and dangerous

did i say i wanted it done? i had a question about it. i know the risks of the situation. obviously it's going to obscure vision. but thanks for your input.

The only part of a windshield that can be tinted is the top tint band (denoted with a line and arrow typically).

no i mean the whole thing

you cant tint your windshield period. if you have that bad of a skin condition then you proly also have a doctors note saying you are prohibited from ever going outside let alone drive a vehicle

I know somebody who is illergic(sp) to the sun. I mean worse than just a sun burn, full blown hives and rashes. Only the rear 3 windows on her truck are tinted, and she dresses appropriatly, long sleeve shirt, light gloves if need be, sun glasses, and or a hat.

in high school my buddy tinted all of his windows 2-1/2% (twice on the rear) and his front window(the entire thing) 20% or whatever the lighest tint is, he had it on for months b4 he got a ticket(got pulled over cuz of the side windows and got nailed with the front too) night time driving was almost unaffected and driving during the day was nicer without the suns glare, impossible to see into the truck during the day unless ur were right up close (2-5 inches lol)

I have a clear front window and driving down 118th is hard to see, shoot driving home fromt he city sat night in the snow.... almost no visibility.. I hate to try that with a tinted front window.....

Maybe a polorized coating.. sure, but actual tint.. no....

When I drive non tinted cars/trucks I find that shoulder checking is tough. When they are tinted I can see magically an make a quicker more accurate desision when changing lanes.

My hatch glass is tinted and so are my quarter panels. It was that way when I bought it. It looks sweet, but I fucking hate it at night. I can't see shit when I'm backing up. Tinting a windshield is worthy of a Darwin award. Might as well wear a blindfold.

If you had tint on your side windows it wouldn't be as bad but I do agree with you on it can be real hard to see behind you. I spent a lot of time down in the South-eastern states where tint is legal if not required because of the heat and I have found with tint that it is all or none. When you only have half the tint it can make visabilaty hard with the suns glare and in the dark.
