I say FLOOR it and see what happens after.... !? Okay but seriously, if you're tires are gonna sqeal and lock up, you may as while continue to go through, if it's greeny yellow or just turned yellow.... if it's red stop...! On the same token if you can stop fine, then do so anyhow even if you're going to block the crosswalk, ppl are smart enough to walk around the car.... Of course this answer is probably all wrong according to the law, so wait for Jim's response :D

I had that happen to me at 178th st and 69th av. I had to slam on a yellow cause some dumbass was turning left right in front of me. Anyway this woman whos walking across the crosswalk has to walk around my car and as she does she pounds my (alluminum) hood with her fist and waves her finger at me (not middle). I jumped out to make sure my hood was ok and then I had a few choice words for her. I sure hope someone wouldn't get a ticket for blocking a crosswalk if it was a situation like mine.

hey I got an idea.. watch that blinking orange hand.. count it and when it turns solid you have 3-6 seconds til it turns red so maybe here's an idea.. it's icey so slow down if you're close and have no way of stopping then floor it but you can get a ticket for blocking a crosswalk if the cop wants to write it.

The light turns yellow as soon as the blinking hand stops blinking. As for blasting through when its slippery out.....well if you can't stop in time due to conditions then you are obviously going too fast for conditions. Although I admit there have been times when I'm going about 2 or 3 km/h and still slide 10 feet when the ice is really bad.
